Master Bathroom Makeover

Hey everyone, we’ve made quite a few additions to our house this year, which I’ll be touching more on in 2020 since I’ll be spending so much more time at home, but before we end the year I wanted to show you one of favorite renovations: the master bathroom makeover. We worked with Triton Stone to choose a new bathtub and filler as well as a new counter top and faucets for our his and her sinks. If you follow me on Instagram, then I’m sure you remember voting on your favorite counter top and the winning sample was Vicostone Quartz Venatino. We are so happy with the selections we made and Triton Stone was so helpful throughout the entire process. They offer in-house design consultants to help you make the best decisions to complement the overall aesthetic for your home. We actually got to visit their warehouse in New Orleans to see the samples in person before ordering, which made the process easier and more fun.

The Solid La Jolla Baskets are perfect for extra storage by my bed and bathtub. I keep blankets and towels inside of them.

I like placing candles or bath essentials on the Dip-Dyed Stools while I’m using the tub.

Last Minute New Year’s Eve Decor Ideas

Morning everyone, can you believe that we’re celebrating New Year’s Eve tomorrow night? We’ll be partying with our friends at a house party, but if you’re hosting at your own home, I wanted to give you some last minute decor ideas that will work perfectly for ringing in 2020. I found most of these decorations at my local At Home store, Hobby Lobby, World Market and Party City.

If there is one thing you absolutely need, it’s some oversized 2020 balloons. They instantly light up the room and make it feel like a party. I always get mine from Party City and use clear fishing wire and balloon weights on both sides of the balloons to keep them in place. Also, grab a helium tank and blow up a bunch of gold, white and silver balloons to cover the ceiling and even the floor like I did last year for 2019.

I also recommend metallic tinsel foil fringe curtains that you can hang on the wall or in doorways as a backdrop for photos. See how I how used them below for Blake’s 30th Great Gatsby themed party last year. You can usually find this at your local Walmart, Target or party store.

Assuming you will have food, dessert and drink stations, sequin table cloths or table runners are a nice touch. You can even find some cute plastic ones to use at your local party store if you don’t have time to overnight these from Amazon. If you already have table cloths you’d rather use, just grab some gold and silver confetti to decorate the table with. I suggest the oversized confetti because it’s much easier to clean up.

I found these Gold Rimmed Bubble Glass Coupe Glasses and Bubble Glass Champagne Flutes at World Market.

When it comes to table center pieces, a 20s theme is a great idea since we’re welcoming the 20s this year. So I grabbed some fun 20s style ornaments from my local At Home store and spread them across the table runner along with champagne glasses filled with gold dipped feathers and pearls that I found at Hobby Lobby. I also used gold and silver beaded garland from At Home to drape across the the middle of the table. Lastly, I added mercury glass glass candles holders with tea light candles inside and spray painted wine bottles metallic gold to fill them with sparkly feathers that I found at my local At Home store. I also used one large gold vase for the middle of the table and filled it metallic feathers for a fun flapper girl feel.

How to Assemble a Beautiful Cheeseboard

Happy Friday friends! I can’t believe New Year’s Eve is just next week. I know I showed you how to put together beautiful cheeseboards for the holidays on my Instagram stories, but I figured I would put all of the information in a blog post too. If you watched my stories, then you know that I hosted a wine & cheeseboard making party and partnered with local party board enthusiast, Noelle of Snacx to give us the scoop on all of her cheeseboard essentials. Noelle sources her cheese from all over the world when she creates her professional boards from scratch for catered events, but I had her tell us her grocery store go-tos for those times when we have to have whip up something quick for guests.

I hope you find all of the these tips helpful the next time you find yourself whipping up a cheese & charcuterie board for an impromptu gathering at your house.

How to Assemble a Beautiful Cheeseboard:

First things first! Get yourself a pretty cheeseboard to display all of your snacks on. I got all of my party guests these beautiful personalized cheese boards from Mark & Graham to take home with them. These personalized marble and wooden cheese boards make great hostess gifts. I also recommend treating yourself to one to make entertaining guests at your house more fun.

When you find yourself having to whip up a cheese & charcuterie board for an impromptu gathering at your house and you only have time to stop by your local grocery store, these are the items that Noelle suggests grabbing: cheese, pre-sliced meat, fruit, veggies, nuts, garnishes and crackers of course. Don’t forget wine too or sparkling wine if you’re pregnant like me. Noelle says the top three people-pleasing cheeses are: brie, boursin and manchego. After tasting all of them, I totally agree. Plus it’s nice to switch it up between creamy, semi-hard/hard, and aged along with different shapes.

One you have all of your board ingredients together, Noelle says to slice your manchego cheese to spread across your board for a more decorative look. Next take your brie out of the container and cut a small triangle slice out of it before placing on your board. Leave your boursin cheese whole, but be sure to remove all of the foil.

Once you have all of your cheese set on your board, start adding your meat. We used salami slices, but I also like prosciutto too. Noelle showed us how to fold the meat to look like little flowers on our boards. You can see how to do that on my Instagram stories under my highlights.

Here is an example of how we folded the meat.

After your board is full of meat and cheese, the fun begins! Start adding your veggies like pickled green beans, olives, peppers and cornichon (aka mini pickles). Next add fruit, like grapes, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries. You can even use apples or peaches or dried fruits to add more color to your board. Color-play is key to a beautiful board. Small ingredients like nuts and chocolate covered almonds help to fill the empty gaps on your board.

Last, but not least, garnish your board with flowers or greenery. We used rosemary and mint leaves. The garnishes really make your board feel complete. As for the crackers, if you’re working with a small board, display your crackers in different bowls around your cheeseboard.

When it comes time to serve, keep in mind that cheese tastes best at room temperature, so take it out at least an hour before guests arrive. Don’t forget to leave out a different knife for each type of cheese.

The day after Christmas is always bittersweet because you’re bummed that Christmas is over, but yet you have a bunch of new toys to play with or money or gift cards to spend. I’ve decided to go with the “treat yo-self” route because today kicks off the “get what you really wanted for Christmas” sale. I only asked for baby gifts this year and I’m so grateful for them, but there are still a few things out there that I want for myself. 5. Belted Ribbed Midi Dress ← This dress has been one of my go-tos during pregnancy. It’s a little black dress that I can always count on to wear with heels, booties, flats and even sneakers.

6. Battery Power Phone Case <–This battery power phone case is a life saver while traveling or out running errands! I can’t tell you how many my it saved me from my phone dying on me.

7. slip™ for beauty sleep <–I’ve had the silk pillow case for a few years, but this year I decided to splurge on the eye mask too and it’s perfect for traveling long distances.

9. heart drop earrings <–These rhinestone heart earrings have gotten so much wear during the holidays and they’re super on trend too! Not to mention the fact that they’re only $10 and not too heavy either.

11. Lustrous Maternity Leggings <–these shiny black leggings are hands down my favorite maternity leggings because they’re so flattering and not too constricting. I’ve owned the regular pairs for 3+ years now so I was so happy when I saw they were offered in a maternity version too.

13. Victorie Slide Sandal <–What did we do before clear heels? They go with everything and they look so chic and stylish. I especially love this pair because it has low block heel so they’re great for long wears and they’re super elongating.

14. Vintage Heart Sunglasses <–These $10 sunglasses got almost as much wear as my ray-ban sunglasses this year! Plus they make great party favors too!

15. Grey Midi Dress ← I bought this dress in 3 colors this year because it has been one of my pregnancy go-to dresses. It’s so flattering and comfortable. Plus it’s great for non-pregnant use too.

16. Headbands for Women ← These $8 headbands are great for when you don’t have time to do your hair.

17. Parker Cutoff Shorts← I wore these denim shorts more than any other pair of shorts this year! I’ve had them for 3 years and I bought a 3rd pair this past spring.

18. Deodorant Aloe Lotus ← I tried this deodorant for the first time this year and was instantly hooked. I don’t care how much it costs because it works really well plus it’s aluminum free and easy to reapply, which is hard to come across.

19. Apple AirPods ← I don’t know how I ever got along with my airpods before! I actually got them in 2018, but they’re still one of my top items of 2019.

20. Leo Print Airpod Case <–I love having this case not only to protect my airpods, but also to distinguish which pair is mine since they all look the same.

21. Gold Hoop Earrings ← I love wearing these gold hoops not only because they go with everything, but they’re also superlight weight. Not to mention the fact that they’re only $24!
