Macy’s Full Service Bridal Salon Review

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day. Blake and I got to celebrate a few days early this year during our trip to NYC. Speaking of my trip to NYC, if you follow along with me on Instagram (@hauteofftherack) then you saw that I got to visit the full service bridal salon at Macy’s headquarters. I had a blast trying on gowns and accessories to share with all of you future brides-to-be. As most of you know, I already have my wedding dress for my wedding next week in New Orleans, but I still love visiting new bridal salons to share my shopping experiences with you because I know that many of you are still looking and I want to provide you with all options.

I had a wonderful experience at Macy’s where I had the sweetest sales consultant and tried on a variety of different styles. My favorite styles to try on are full skirt ball gowns because they always make me feel like a real bride. Even, if you think you don’t want one, I strongly suggest that you try one on anyway.

If you’ve already found your dress, but you still need gowns for your bridal party, you’ll be pleased to hear that they also offer gowns for the whole bridal party as well as bridal accessories like veils, hair pieces, jewelry and more. They offer an array of looks and prices to meet any style and budget. However, I thought the best part of the Macy’s bridal salon is the fact that they also offer in-house alterations by an expert seamstresses so you don’t have to take your gowns all over town to get the proper fit. This is especially important to me because I am only 5 ft tall so alterations are key to achieving the perfect look.

If you’re newly engaged, I highly recommend that you check out their new Fall 2018 Collections, which just arrived in stores this week.

Wedding Wednesday: Top 5 Destination Wedding Planning Tips

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! We’re officially almost a month away from our Cabo wedding so I thought I would share my top 5 destination wedding planning tips to get you excited. There are so many factors that go into planning the perfect destination wedding overseas. I’ve learned so much throughout my planning experience especially during our recent visit and menu tasting at The Cape Hotel. I still have a month left so I thought I would tell you what I’ve learned so far and please let me know if you have any additional questions that I didn’t cover.

1. Choose a meaningful place!

Yea, it’s super cool to get married in a far away, magical place, but choose a place that actually means something to you not just because it sounds cool. Blake and I went to Cabo together a few years ago and we had such an amazing time that we wanted to bring our friends back because we knew it was a place they would enjoy too. We just fell in love with the stunning views and liveliness of the beach town.  When it comes to hotel accommodations, be sure to choose an area that can accommodate all of your guests and their needs. For example, if the resort you choose is out of the budget for some of your guests, make sure that there is a more budget-friendly hotel close enough to the main resort to accommodate them too.

2. Secure your venue

First, make a venue check list and then choose a few dates that work for you, your fiancé and your family. Then submit those dates to all of the venues you’re interested in to compare all of their rates, availability and resources. When I was researching venues and resorts, these are three main qualities I wanted my venue to possess:

  1. The venue/resort needed to have an absolutely spectacular view from both the guest rooms as well as the spot where the ceremony would take place. I really wanted our guests to get the full experience and I think a breath-taking view plays a huge role in one’s overall experience. I researched views for weeks before finally deciding on The Cape Hotel in Cabo, which by the way has the most fantastic view from every room. All rooms have oceanfront views!
  2. While views are super important, they can also be super expensive too. So I needed a moderately priced venue that would work within my budget.
  3. Last but not least, I wanted the resort to feel fun and lively while still exclusive. I want my guests to feel to like they’re always having fun, but I also want them to have their space and privacy as well as top notch service. I feel like The Cape offers all of those qualities without sacrificing any of the good stuff! On top of all that, their food is sensational! Our menu tasting was out of this world delicious!

3. Hire a planner & book your photographer!

Let’s be real here…no matter how travel savvy and creative you think you are, destination weddings are a whole new ball game and I highly recommend you leave it to the pros. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later! We chose Amy Abbott Events because her team had phenomenal reviews and was willing to work within my budget.

As for destination photographers, I feel like they book up their schedules pretty quickly during peek season so once you decide you who you want to go with, consult your wedding date with them immediately. I’m bringing my own photographer from home (Lainey Reed Photography) and I also hired local Cabo photographers, Ana & Jerome who shot the photos for this post.

4. Inform Your Guests

Give your guests at least eight months notice so they can start planning and preparing. Also, provide with them all of the travel details from passports and flight suggestions all the way to transportation to and from the airport and the resort and festivity locations. I also provided my guests with a packing list. I did this through our wedding website, which you can create on Minted.com. See more information on save the dates here—> Custom Save The Date Cards

5. Overestimate Your Budget

Trust me when I say that things will definitely “come up!” Things that never even crossed your mind, but are non-negoaiteable. Just be prepared because when you aren’t able to physically be there for all of the details, you have less control over everything, which ends up costing you more.

Galentine’s Day Beauty Essentials

Happy Friday everyone, today I’ve teamed up with Walmart to share some fun and affordable galentine’s day beauty essentials. Normally, Blake and I go out for a romantic dinner, but this Valentine’s Day is different being that it’s my last v-day as a single gal before we get married in two weeks. So I thought to myself..what better way to spend my last Valentine’s Day as a single lady than enjoying a relaxing at-home spa day with my girls. At this point in my wedding planning experience, I feel like we’ve spent a fortune on both necessary and unnecessary things so the fact that Walmart offers a variety of affordable beauty products to create your own at-home spa is so refreshing. I was able to find moisturizing faces masks, manicure and pedicure tools and all of my favorite OPI nail colors along with some fresh new colors.  You can find everything for your own gal party in their Galentine’s day beauty selection. Scroll through this post to see everything I purchased to complete my perfect galentine’s day spa weekend just before my big day.

1) OPI Nail Polish | Walmart always has the best selection of OPI colors. I always go for neutral colors, but don’t worry they have everything as well as other brands of nail polish. On top of that, they carry all of the necessary tools to achieve salon worthy manis and pedis.

2) Calming & Moisturizing faces masks | I’m sure we can all agree that this cold dry weather has not been kind to our skin and complexions so plenty of moisture is needed in order to look glam and glowy on my wedding day. Speaking of asking color complexions, that brings me to my next beauty product necessity.

3) Bronzing Lotion | Let’s be really here, no matter how tan your skin naturally is, everyone could use a little bronze shimmer on special occasions (aka my wedding day)! I love using this Loreal Sublime bronzer!

Wedding Wednesday: 3 Tips for Picking The Perfect Wedding Gown

Happy Wedding Wednesday everyone, I can’t believe we are only two weeks shy of getting married in New Orleans.  Our garden glam design plan and all of the little details are coming together beautifully thanks to my amazing planner, Elyse Jennings. I wish I could share more of the design details with you, but since I don’t want to ruin the surprise, I thought I would share my wedding gown shopping tips with you instead. I had my final wedding dress fitting today so I can’t think of a more “fitting” time to share my dress shopping experience at Town & Country Bridal with you along with my top 3 tips for picking out the perfect wedding gown.

  1. Don’t go in blind! To ensure a better shopping experience, have somewhat of a plan. Scroll through all of your favorite wedding Instagram accounts and Pinterest to put together photos of styles and designers you can see yourself wearing. BUT, don’t be afraid to try on styles you think you won’t like in addition to your mood board. I think you might be surprised at how different wedding dresses look once you put them on your own body. I was shocked at what I ended up liking on myself, but I’m glad that I didn’t go in blind either. I gave the ladies at Town & Country Bridal a list of styles I was interested in along with some photos for reference and of course my budget. Knowing they were experts when it comes to gowns, I asked them to also pull me a couple of dresses they thought would look good on my body type. They did a fantastic job and I ended up choosing one style that I specifically had in mind for Cabo and then one that they suggested for me.

2. Be physically prepared! This might go without saying, but look nice for your appointment. Wear a little bit of extra makeup and maybe even curl your hair. It’s hard to imagine yourself in a wedding dress on your wedding day without any makeup on. Also, bring heels and the appropriate undergarments like seamless underwear, sticky boobs or a strapless bra. Lastly, it doesn’t hurt to hit the gym a few times before your appointment to help guarantee a little extra confidence! Don’t be nervous though! The ladies at Town & Country Bridal were full of genuinely uplifting compliments.

Bonus Tip: I know this may sound a little over the top, but if you know you’re getting engaged soon, I don’t think it hurts to start looking at dresses early. Just maybe don’t tell your future fiancé about it to avoid them freaking out. LOL This way you’ll be prepared in knowing what you like and how much your dress will cost. This is especially important if you want a short engagement because as I mentioned before, most dresses take up to six months so you don’t have much time play around if you have a short engagement.
