Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020 Wish List & Top Picks

Happy Friday everyone, since I am a Nordy Club Ambassador, I was finally able to shop the Anniversary Sale online so I’m sharing my wish lists with you and top items from the sale. Thursday, August 13th the sale will be open to all “Nordstrom Insiders” so I highly suggest that you sign up to become a member (here). I’ll be posting a try-on haul over on my Instagram stories (@hauteofftherack) along with a blog post on all my purchases as soon as my packages arrive. I just ordered everything this morning!

I will be sure to include photos from my IG story try-on haul including sizing and reviews in my next blog post just before all “Nordstrom Insiders” gain access to the sale. If you don’t plan to sign up, at least make sure to utilize Nordstrom’s “wish list” feature because you can easily add of the items to your cart once you’re able to shop the sale.

One of the best investment items you can snag from the sale is the nuna MIXX™ Next Stroller! It’s a Pack-up and go anywhere stroller with a smooth ride that you can easily maneuver with one hand and lay flat for quick naps on the go. I especially like the fact that its compact fold lets it fit into tighter spaces, so you can take more trips to more places. We got this one for my mom to keep at her house and pack along to our beach condo. Most people don’t realize how petite I am so and I understand that knowing my sizes can help you determine what size to get.
Post pregnancy I am a size 27 in jeans & medium in high waisted bottoms, size S in tops (36C), Medium in sports bras, small in leggings
– I am 5′ ft

If I share any old photos from last year my sizes were: 26 in jeans & sz small in most bottoms, XS/S in tops (34B), XS/S in dresses.

Hurricane Prep Kit & Checklist

Morning friends! It’s that time again…hurricane season! I never really worried myself over it too much before, but now that we’re home owners and parents, there is so much more to think about. So I decided to create a hurricane prep kit for my family to make sure that we’re fully prepared for any weather emergency. I figured I would share it with you all so you can be ready too. Also, since we have Beck now, I convinced Blake to get us a generator for the house because being without power for longer than a few hours with a baby sounds miserable especially in the Louisiana heat. We got our generator from 4LP for those of you who are interested.

Of course we all know to board up, tape the glass windows, bring in the patio furniture and use sandbags for life-threatening storms, but what about the other necessities? Scroll through this post to see everything I have on my hurricane prep kit checklist:

You can never have enough flash lights and batteries during a storm. Also, we always fill our cars with gas ahead of time in case we suddenly need to evacuate. As for important documents, I just recently purchased one of these water proof document bags with safe code lock in case we flood and I wasn’t able to grab them or if we have to grab them and run through rain/water in an emergency situation. I obviously hope that never happens, but if it does at least I’ll be prepared.

Important Documents: passports, birth certificates, marriage license, insurance cards, flood insurance, home insurance & social security cards

The 200W Peak Power Station is also ideal for keeping your phones charged to help you stay informed on the weather as well as allowing you stay in touch with your loved ones to let them know you’re okay.

Don’t forget to pack extra cash, rain gear, sturdy shoes and an extra set of clothing sturdy when evacuating. You never know what you might have to walk through. Also, a can opener is key when all you have is non perishable food to eat so make sure to have one on hand!

A battery operated fan isn’t a bad idea either since hurricanes tend to hit during the hottest times of the year.

We probably won’t purchase these food items until we receive news that we have potential weather threats like a hurricane or tropical storm heading for Louisiana. Also be sure to get at least 3-day supply of water or one gallon per person, per day and 3-day supply of nonperishable, easy-to-prepare food. Oh and maybe just little bit of junk food and sweets like chips and cookies to help brighten your mood when you’re all hunkered down for the storm. Also, no need to go crazy on paper items, but I would get a couple extra rolls of toilet paper and paper towels in case you aren’t able to make it the store for a while.

If you take any medication, be sure have a 7 day’s supply as well as medical items. As for important prescriptions, I would request a 60-90 day supply just in case you aren’t able to make it to the pharmacy for a while after the storm hits. You never know if and how long you’re going to be displaced from home.

I always keep a toiletry bag packed with travel size toiletries so it’s ready to go when I travel and it’s perfect to pack along in the case that we need to evacuate due to dangerous weather conditions. I also keep a small pouch with my Young Living essential oils that I use on a daily basis especially lavender to help keep me calm in scary situations like a hurricane.

I highly suggest making sure your diaper bag is fully stocked anytime the weather channel mentions potential weather threats in case you suddenly need to get in your car and get out quickly. I would also have an overnight bag packed and ready in the car so you aren’t running around panicking in an emergency. Also, in days prior to the storm, I would make sure you’re full stocked on diapers, wipes and formula.

P.S. If you pump, I would suggest having a battery powered pump on hand!

A Splash of Seafoam Green Bedding for Summer

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We spent most of our weekend being lazy and staying cozy inside away from the rain. I love a good Sunday morning spent in bed though so I didn’t mind the gloomy weather. Speaking of our bed, we recently swapped out our sheets and down comforter for these breathable and lightweight sheets from The Company Store to finish out the summer in. As for our comforter, we chose the “light” Alberta European Down Baffled Duvet Insert and since it’s so hot in Louisiana right now, we didn’t even bother putting a duvet cover over it. I’m so glad we chose the “light” version because I like to sleep with all the covers on no matter what time of the year it is, but sometimes the AC isn’t enough and you just need to get lighter covers and more breathable sheets.

We also added a splash of seafoam with these shams and this king size cotton quilt. I usually like to keep our room all white, but we thought it would be fun to add a pop of color for summer. The Company Cotton Voile Quilt also comes in so many other colors. I also love the lilac and coral.

While we’re totally enjoying our new bedding, nothing compares to this amazing Luxury Regal Egyptian Cotton Robe. I don’t know why I never thought to get one of these before. Giant bathrobes are one of the best parts of staying at a luxury hotel and since we can’t travel right now, this is the next best thing. It’s like a mini staycation at our house. I got one for me and one for my husband with our initials! I think I might make this my new go-to gift for friends, especially new moms since they spend so much time lounging around the house. So why not pretend you’re a day spa! Haha!

How to Shop The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020

Good morning friends, we’re just about two weeks away from the most anticipated sale of the year: the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020! This sale is known for offering some of Nordstrom’s top pieces like the BlankNYC suede moto jacket, the Barefoot Dreams cardigan and the coziest blanket from last year! I love shopping the Anniversary Sale because Nordstrom isn’t just marking down items that didn’t sell over the summer, they’re selling brand new closet staples and on-trend items at unbeatable prices for only a limited amount of time before the prices go back up. It’s the ultimate time to go crazy on pre-fall denim, booties, jackets, Zella leggings, handbags, shoes, you name it! With that being said, I’ve taken my past seven years of N-sale experiences to put together my top 5 tips for shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020 to help you fully maximize your shopping experience.

I’m bummed that this is my first year in a while that I won’t be heading to Nordstrom in Houston next week to cover the sale before it even begins. However, since I have ambassador status at Nordstrom, I gain access to the sale on Friday, August 7 so I will place a large order to try-on hauls for size, quality and fit reviews for you on my IG stories. Be sure to check your Nordy Club status to see if you can start shopping then too.

How to Shop The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020:

1) KEY DATES TO KNOW:

2) GET AN EARLY START!

All the best items usually sell out within the first few days of “Early Access” so getting early access is obviously a must!! All you have to do to gain early access is sign up to be a Nordstrom Card Holder. I signed up with Nordstrom about seven years ago and it was the best decision I could have ever made for my shopping habit because you get rewards. Sign up for Nordstrom Card here and if you sign up by August 13th & make a purchase the day you’re approved, you’ll also receive a $60 Nordstrom Bonus Note, which is essentially a gift card to Nordstrom.

If you aren’t able to sign up until the day of the sale, not to worry because Nordstrom doesn’t require you to have you card in-hand to gain early access. Also, if you’re a Nordstrom Rewards member, you’ll get rewarded every time you shop!

3) DO YOUR RESEARCH & MAP OUT A PLAN!

When I say “do your research,” I mean checkout the 2019 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Preview available on their site right now and make a wishlist of everything you want for your future fall wardrobe. Then narrow the items down to your favorite pieces and create a budget according to that list. However, keep in mind that you can always return items, so don’t be afraid to go a little over your budget because once an item is gone, that’s usually it. It’s very rare that they restock the bestsellers. If it happens to you though, don’t lose hope because remember that other people return things too.

4) SHOP ONLINE!

You don’t live near a Nordstrom or is Covid keeping you in? No problem! I don’t live near a Nordstrom either! Fortunately, the best way to shop Anniversary Sale is online because it allows you easily navigate all of the sale items and categories. Plus why would you get dressed and leave the house when you can everything in your pajamas on the couch! LOL

Additionally, their online shipping and return policy is amazing because they offer both free shipping and returns. So you’ve got nothing to lose! Plus I’m ordering everything ahead of time to do all of the leg work for you! Just be sure to follow me on IG @hauteofftherack to wash my try-on hauls on IG stories.

5) USE ME AS YOUR GUIDE!

As I mentioned earlier, this year I’m able to go the Houston Nordstrom to scope out the sale in person, but I will still be reporting to you live from my closet at home once my orders arrive! 1) Cozy Cardigans — I love the Barefoot Dreams, Leith and BP cardigans each year during the sale

2) Designer Denim — This year I would keep your eyes out for Kut from Cloth, AG Jeans, Good American and Frame.

3) Boots & Ankle Booties — I always love the Marc Fisher, Steve Madden, Sam Edelman and Jeffrey Campbell booties

4) Activewear — Zella leggings are the best, but I also love All Yoga too.

5) Shoes, shoes and more shoes! I probably buy 10 pairs of fall shoes from the sale each year and I use them all season long! Last year, I scooped up some of my favorite shoes of all time that I still receive compliments on!
