Holiday Party Hairstyles With TRESemmé

Hi everyone, it’s that time of year again where must trade in our fuzzy socks and 3-day-old top knots for killer heels and perfectly un-done locks. I’m referring to holiday party season, which is why I’ve teamed up with TRESemmé to share some holiday party hairstyles along with all of the vital tips and tricks! I’ll be sharing three stunning hairstyles created by lead TRESemmé stylist, Tyler Laswell and how you can try them yourself at home. Today, I’m kicking off the season with bombshell waves and double braids!

For my first look, I rocked voluminous bombshell waves with a rose gold, sequined mini dress and a sleeveless burgundy coat. I accessorized with a quilted chain bag, a velvet choker and some bowtie heels. This outfit is perfect for a fancy Christmas party or you could even save it for New Years Eve.

TYLERR’S BOMBSHELL WAVES: TIPS AND TRICKS

1.  Don’t over work your hair when blowdrying; this is a volume killer! Just make sure the product is dry and the ends are smooth. Let the curling iron or hot rollers do the rest.

2. TRESemmé TRES TWO Mousse and TRESemmé TRES TWO Mega Hold Hairspray are ideal products to create this look. Both are lightweight and moveable but pack a powerful punch when it comes to holding a voluminous style.

3. I like to keep my teasing light and airy when I am creating this kind of a style. Start at the roots by spraying a little TRESemmé TRES TWO Mega Hold Hairspray and tease the hair with a flick of the wrist working your way to the ends. Also, it is important to keep your tease nice and clean. After I am done teasing, I like to go over the tops sections of the hair with a flat bore bristle brush to smooth out any rough patches.

For my second look, I went a little more boho-glam with two side braids and an elaborate beaded dress. I love how the double braids give this look an unexpected twist with a more fun and playful vibe as opposed to the sexy bombshell waves.

TYLER’S DOUBLE BRAID: TIPS AND TRICKS

1. I love to braid two to three day unwashed hair. By this point, it has a few different layers of products in it and this makes my life so much easier when creating a textured braid. If you are looking to create this kind of texture on day one, all you have to do is combine TRESemmé TRES TWO Mousse and TRESemmé TRES TWO Extra Hold Gel and apply evenly throughout your hair. Rough dry using your hands and a blow dryer. If the hair still feels too soft, repeat this until you can feel the products in the hair.

2. If your hands feel sticky after finishing the braid, be sure to wash them as this keeps your hands from sticking to the hair and pulling too much out when you go to fluff your braids.

3. Practice makes perfect when it comes to braiding so don’t give up. Also, who likes a perfect braid anyways; purposely undone is how I like my braids.

For extra volume, Tyler added Luxyhair extensions into my natural hair to create both of these hairstyles. However, both of these looks can be done using just your own hair. They may just look slightly different.

I hope you loved these two holiday party hairstyles and make sure to stay tuned for my next hairstyle featuring two different ways to rock a milkmaid braid! Also, I’ll be showing how I created my own version of Tyler’s bombshell waves using his tips and tricks, but without the the added hair extensions.

Side Swept Braid How To

Hi everyone, as you all know, I recently attended Miami Swim Week this past July with the TRESemmé team where we showed you tons of amazing summer hairstyles. However, all of those stunning hairstyles were created by the talented TRESemmé team, but since I don’t have my own live-in hairstylist, I decided to attempt my own version of a side swept braid! I’m not gonna lie, it doesn’t look like it was done by the lead TRESemmé stylist, but it does look effortless and perfect to finish out the summer in. I listed the steps below so you can try it out for Labor Day Weekend coming up!
In case you missed my last Swim Week post, you can view it here—> My Summer Hairstyle Tutorial With TRESemmé & E!News

Side Note: This hairstyle does not require perfectly clean hair! You can wash your hair and then go a couple of days before trying this side swept braid!

Step 2: Spray the Nourish & Replenish Hydrating Mist all throughout your hair and not just because it smells amazing, but also because it helps to detangle and hydrate your locks.

Step 3: Dry your hair. I love my T3 Micro Hair Dryer. After drying, add some grit and texture to your hair with mousse. You can also use TRESemmé BOTANIQUE Damage Recovery Oil Elixir for weightless shine and texture that won’t leave your hair feeling greasy.

Step 4: If you have short short hair like me, you may want to add in some hair extensions for length and thickness to create a larger and fuller braid. Be sure to do this before waving your hair. Since you’re putting your hair up, you don’t need to make perfect waves. Just take small sections and run your wand throughout your entire head. I recommend using a 1.5″ inch barrel.  Don’t forget to use TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Protectant Spray to avoid damaging your hair with hot tools.

Step 5: Create a deep part at the crown of your head towards the side that you want the braid to be on. Then pull all of your hair in front of that shoulder leaving out a small section at the front of your face. Next, tease all the hair around the crown of your head with a comb.

Step 6: Braid your hair tightly and use a small hair tie to secure it. Then gently tug the braid apart with your fingers to make it looser and give it that perfectly-undone look. Start from the bottom and work your way to the top. Lastly, take the small section of hair in front that you left out of the braid and pull out even smaller sections of hair and bobby pin them back to the base of your braid. Leave some out and pull your wand through that section one more time. Complete the hairstyle with plenty of Tres Two Extra Hold Hairspray.

The Perfect Undone Braid For Holiday Parties

My all time favorite hairstyle no matter the season is hands-down, a chunky, undone braid with lots of height and volume.  Unfortunately, I can’t always achieve that look on my own so I had professional Tresemme stylist, Jeanie Syfu work her magic to help me create the perfect, coveted undone braid for holiday parties. To make my braid look thicker, Jeanie braided four sections instead of three. Once, she finished the braid, she pulled the strands apart to make it apear fuller.

Hi everyone, this is my second holiday hairstyle look with Tresemme and possibly my favorite too.  I’ll let you decide though once we get to the last hairstyle post. See my first one here–> The Perfect Holiday Top Knot

Jeanie’s tips for a Big 4 strand braid: For a fuller braid, back brush hair before weaving strands. Finish with Perfectly Undone hairspray.

P.S. Tresmme hair products make great stocking stuffers! My favorites are the (un)Done Hairspray and the Wave Creation Sea Foam. The Blow Dry Balm is great too!
