Neutral Travel Outfit

Today I’m finally sharing this neutral travel outfit that I wore before my recent trip to Rhode Island. If you follow me on Instagram, then you know I actually wore this outfit to New Orleans to stay the night before my flight. It’s pretty much impossible for me to look this put together at 4 am on a Friday morning, but I did look this cute traveling the day before to New Orleans. Haha!

In other news, I’m so excited to travel to SoCal tomorrow for a getaway in Laguna Beach followed by a bachelorette trip in Palm Springs so stay tuned for tomorrow’s travel style post on Instagram!

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had as wonderful weekend as I did! The weather was out of this world amazing! I even got to break some of new wedges and sandals.

As for today’s look, not only is it perfect to wear while traveling, but it’s also a great transitional outfit for that awkward phase in between winter and spring. I styled my black jeans and poncho with open toe booties and a fresh ivory satchel for a subtle hint of spring.

P.S. These photos are making me so sad about hair! If you follow me on snapchat, then you know I chopped off all my hair into a long bob and now I miss it! 🙁

Breckenridge, Colorado Ski Trip Review

Happy Weekend everyone! Today I’m sharing my recent Breckenridge, Colorado ski trip review. We planned the trip with some friends of ours within just a couple of weeks, but we researched a ton of cabins and condos before finally choosing our mountain top cabin via VRBO. We chose listing #765132 after reading that property offered a private hot tub plus the best views in Breckenridge, which is what sold me! Not to mention the fact that we had a huge kitchen and two large living area spaces along with enough beds and rooms for 10 people.

When we arrived to our cabin after a rather frightening drive up a winding snowy mountain, we found that the cabin definitely lived up to its title of “best views in Breckenridge.” The views from all of our oversized windows were absolutely breathtaking as you can see in these photos. The cabin also came with the coziest fireplace in the living room and get this…heated floors! We were almost never cold in our cabin! In fact, most nights we didn’t even sleep with blankets over us.

As for the one downside of our cabin, we weren’t able to walk to town. We had to take one of our rental cars or a shuttle to both to town and the slopes, which was sort of inconvenient at times when we were out of things like milk or bottled water. No one wanted to have to drive all the way down the mountain once we returned home for the day. On top of that, I personally didn’t feel comfortable driving down the mountain alone so I always had to convince someone to come with me. All in all, that was a very minute negative factor of our cabin and everything else was great. However, it’s definitely something we’ll keep in mind for next time especially if we have less people.

One last negative thing I want to touch on and this has nothing to do with our actual cabin is the way high altitudes and dry air make you feel. No one truly warned me how different my body would feel. All they said was to drink plenty of water and I literally drank 10-12 bottles of water day and I was still left with dry mouth and a headache. Also, simple tasks like lacing up my boots or walking down half a flight of stairs had me out of breath and feeling exhausted. I was still able to have fun of course. The high altitude situation was just a really big adjustment that I wasn’t aware I was going to have to make, which made sleeping difficult more than anything else. Will I go back? Absolutely! I’m just going to be more prepared next time with kleenex, cough drops, Mucinex and a humidifier. I know I may sound like a diva, but I have really aggressive allergies so I think the dry air affected me more so than it would a person without bad allergies.

Comfortable Travel Clothes

If you know me at all, then you know that comfortable travel clothes are a must for me. In fact, I would travel in my pajamas and Ugg Boots if I could, but unfortunately traveling in PJs just isn’t acceptable in the real world.  Thankfully, I found some extremely comfortable jeans from Punch Boutique and the cutest ankle boots by Yosi Samra for traveling. I wore this outfit while traveling to New York last week for a fun work trip with MZ Wallace, Yosi Samra and Julie Vos.

About the jacket: We all know how much I love the color olive so of course I fell in love with the jacket because of that, but then I fell even more in love with it once I tried it on. Not only is it super comfortable and flattering, but it’s also perfect for the weather down here in the south and even great for layering under bigger coats up north.

About the jeans: I’ve only owned these jeans for a couple of weeks and I’ve already worn them more than some of the jeans I’ve had sitting in my closet for a couple of years. They fit like a legging and they’re perfect for petite people because they’re ankle length jeans so they hit just right on me, which means no alterations! I also really like the wash because they’re in between dark and light so you can wear them year round.

Travel Luggage Tricks!

Travel Luggage Tricks: The number one trick to always spotting your luggage first on the carousel in baggage claim lies in the color of your luggage! I’m really hoping you already knew that though! I never ever buy a plain black or brown piece of luggage. I always choose a color and in this case I chose multiple colors with the French Bull 21″ Carry On spinner, which is exclusively available at Target! It also comes in a larger size here–> French Bull Vee 28″ Spinner

Good Morning readers, over the past few years I’ve first handedly learned a couple more travel luggage tricks so I figured I would share them with you:

1) If you’re an over packer like me, do yourself a favor and just pack two checked bags instead of stuffing everything into one bag and risking the overweight limit fee on the way home. It’s way cheaper to just check two bags instead paying an extra $100 on top of the one bag fee.

2) Always pack your hairspray and perfumes inside of plastic water resistant bags so that it won’t leak onto your clothing.

3) If you think it may rain while your luggage is making its way to the plane outside in the baggage carts, wrap your belongings inside of the luggage with a large trash bag on both the bottom and the top. I still have water stains on a white blazer from my stuff getting drenched at the airport while they were unloading the plane.

4) Pack extra carry on bags! I always stuff two extra carry on bags into the front pocket of my suitcase in case I end up traveling home with more stuff that I originally packed, which happens more often that not. I recommend my MZ Wallace metro or sutton totes because they can fold up super tiny and are extremely lightweight.

5) 360 spinners are the way to go! There is absolutely no reason for your luggage to only have two wheels when they can have four! After the first time I used a spinner, I wondered how I ever got through life without one! If you don’t already have a spinner, trust me you need one–>French Bull Vee 28″ Spinner

P.S. These photos were taken of My Style Diaries and I and the International House Hotel in New Orleans during a fun little staycation, which we’ll be sharing soon on our blogs! So stay tuned!
