5 Fun Facts About My Mom with Sofft Shoes

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a nice weekend! In honor of Mother’s Day coming up this month, I decided to partner with Sofft Shoes to give you and your mom a chance to each win a cute pair of sandals for summer. All you have to do to enter is look for the “giveaway photo” on my Instagram tonight at 8 pm CST and follow the rules beneath picture. For extra entries, you can comment with your favorite thing about your mom beneath the photo!

To celebrate the Mother’s Day Giveaway with Sofft Shoes, I thought I would share 5 fun facts about my mom too!

  1. No, you’re not seeing things… my mom is in fact in better shape than I am! She’s super active between tennis, private cheer lessons and working out every day before going to work. I try to keep up, but I get hungry!

2) She is a former gymnast and college cheerleader and she coached me in competitive cheerleading for nine years. She still continues to coach young girls and even started a special needs cheer team, in which I also help with.  We have coached our special needs cheer squad together for the past three years. We practice with our 16 girls every Wednesday evening and perform at four to five competitions each season. If you follow along with me on Instagram stories, then I’m sure you’ve seen some of their practices or competition routines.

3) She always know how to laugh at herself, which is super important to know how to do when you do as many embarrassing things as we do!

4) When I was about six years old my mom came home from a business trip and realized she had forgotten a souvenir for me when I asked for it. So without hesitation, she pulled out a bottle of water from her carryon bag that I later learned she had gotten at the airport and she pretended that it was magic bottle of water that would make my hair super silky, soft and shiny. Being the gullible person that I still am, I actually believed her! That night she washed my hair with the magic bottle of water and let me tell you…when she dried my hair, I thought I looked like I had just walked straight out of shampoo commercial! This story is important because it shows that she taught me how to make the best out of every situation and and how to make do with what you are you given.

5) I like to mess with her about all the bad qualities that I picked up from her like her poor driving skills, her non-existent concept of time (she’s always late) and her awful sense of direction. However, I did inherit a few of her good qualities like her ability to make people laugh and to always look at the glass as if it’s half full. I also picked up her perseverance, optimism and compassion for others. She’s always trying to help others in need.

Bonus Fact: She is super excited to wear her new Rio Sandals on our trip to Italy and all over the Mediterranean this summer.

Bonus Fact 2: She is only 4’11 so she is even shorter than me and I’m 5 ft and 3/4 an inch!

Bonus Fact 3: She makes the absolute best chocolate-chip banana bread and chocolate chunk brownies!

The One-Piece Swimsuits You Need For Summer!

Happy Weekend! If you follow along with Haute Off The Rack regularly then I’m sure you’ve seen me rocking quite a few one-pieces already this season! However, there are two styles in particular that I absolutely love and 100% recommend for you! I’m referring to my Becca one-piece swimsuits from Nordstrom. Last summer I purchased this black lace one-piece and I loved it so much that I purchased a second one in white along with two more similar styles this season. This is the similar styled I ordered and fell in love with—> Siren One-Piece Swimsuit  I love how it covers my stomach while still showing plenty of skin and the cut is super flattering. For size reference, I’m wearing the size S and it fits perfectly.

I like to order lots of options to try on in the comfort of my own my home because swimsuit shopping can be tricky. Fortunately, Nordstrom carries all of my favorite Becca styles so I can easily order them all from one place and return the ones that don’t work for free. Additionally, Nordstrom carries all the other accessories you need for the beach like coverupsstraw totes and clutches, sun hats, beach towels, sunscreen and sunglasses.

Beat The Skincare Blues with Tula

Happy Friday everyone, I know we haven’t discussed my skincare routine in a while, but with the summer coming quickly around the corner, I figured that now was the perfect time. During the summer I usually like to rock a fresh, makeup-free face. However, I feel slightly self-conscious going bare-faced if my complexion isn’t up to parr. With that being said, I always recommend amping up your skincare game by adding some additional steps or getting rid of unnecessary steps. I also suggest taking a look at the products you’re currently using to decide if they’re suitable for your “summer skin.” Yes I said “summer skin”  because recognizing the changes in your skin throughout the four seasons is vital to your skincare routine because your skin may require different products/steps depending on the weather.

I know most people don’t like having to change up their routine including myself, but fortunately I found a skincare line that works with my skin throughout all seasons. I’m talking about beating the skincare blues with the TULA blues (aka TULA products), which I have now been using for over a year. TULA uses probiotics as the foundation of their skincare line, which is clinically proven to help sooth and protect your skin. All the products are very light and gently, which make them ideal for using year round. Their probiotic technology also helps to promote hydration, pH balance, stress resistance and the natural balance of your skin’s microbiome.

On top of using these products during the summer, I also make sure to use plenty of SPF and drink lots of water to keep my skin hydrated. I especially love drinking alkaline water for ultra hydration.

If you’re interested in beating the skincare blues with the TULA blues, you’re in luck because I’ve teamed up with TULA to give you a special promo code for 20% OFF your entire purchase + free shipping!

Take 20% OFF  your entire TULA purchase + FREE shipping wide code: HAUTE20 | ends: 7/1/17

5 Reasons to Stay in the Over-The-Water Bungalows at Sandals Resorts!

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing the travel review you’ve all been waiting for: the over-the-water bungalows at Sandals Grande St. Lucian, which will be open to guests on May 15th. I was lucky enough to experience the bungalows prior to their grand opening so that I could give you a sneak peek of all the incredible details! If you follow along with my Instagram stories, then I’m sure you saw the full tour of our room. However, I got plenty of photos for those of you who missed it. Before I get into all of the photos and my resort wear outfit details, check out the top 5 reasons you should consider booking the over-the-water bungalows for your next special vacation. I will of course go more in depth about each reason throughout this post.

5 Reasons to Stay in the Over-The-Water Bungalows at Sandals Resorts:

  1. The expansive patio with an outdoor soaking tranquility tub & shower
  2. 24 hour elite butler service ensures guaranteed relaxation
  3. Over-the-water hammock and a suspended patio with swim-up platform
  4. Sea-through glass floors that guarantee undersea views

My 3 personal favorite features of our bungalow:

1) The bathtub: There is nothing I appreciate more in a hotel room than a luxurious bathtub, but this one took luxe bathrooms to whole new level of glam.  The lavish, oversized tub sat on the back deck of our bungalow and overlooked the the ocean. Don’t worry, there are curtains draped around the tub for privacy. However, when there is no one around at night you can leave the curtains open and relax in a nice bubblebath beneath the stars overlooking the ocean. Trust me, it’s even more incredible than you could imagine. I soaked in the outdoor tub every night during our stay.

2) The clear glass floor window: Yes, you read that right! A window on the floor at the foot of our bed so that we were constantly reminded that we were indeed sleeping over the clear blue water in St. Lucia.

3) And last but not least, the most incredible view of the Caribbean! I’m sure that feature was obvious to you, but the overall experience of looking directly out to the ocean from your bed is unlike any other.

On top of those three things, we had the most bomb butlers who worked around the clock to make sure that each moment spent at Sandals Grande St. Lucian was special and unique to our friendship. Yes, I said friendship because my boyfriend was unable to come along so I brought Krystal from A Pinch of Lovely. This trip was actually my first time at  a Sandals resort and now I totally understand why so many people book with them. You literally don’t even have to lift a finger. The staff at Sandals is more than happy to do everything for you. I also love how their team always makes you feel so welcome to their island.

“A Weekend at Bernie’s”

One night, we came back to our room and found these hilarious towel versions of ourselves that our butler created. Zanias really outdid himself with this little masterpiece and Karen was equally was wonderful. This is just one of the examples of how they went above and beyond to make our stay special. The amazing customer service at Sandals Resorts is what truly made our vacation experience in St. Lucia one that we will never forget!

Your Questions Answered:

I invited you all to ask me anything you wanted to know about our over-the-water bungalow experience on Instagram so if you commented with a question, you can find answers below:

Do all the doors close and is there AC? Yes, all of the doors close and there is plenty of AC and a fan.

How of you get back and forth from the main area of the resort including pools, bars, restaurants, etc…? Great question because I was concerned about that too! The bungalows are actually very close to the main resort so you can easily walk back and forth from all of the pools, restaurants, bars and the spa to your over-the-water villa. The bungalows are still a more secluded spot, but still close enough for your convenience. Also, your 24/7 butler is happy to escort you anywhere at anytime in case you are unsure how to find the place the you are looking for. In fact, our butler insisted on escorting us to dinner every night as well as our spa appointment to ensure that we would make it on time.

When will they be open to guests? May 15th!

How was the food and how many restaurants did they have? I have a super sensitive stomach so I am extremely picky when it comes to meals while traveling. However, I found the food to be quite delicious and they are happy to cater to any food allergies or sensitiveness that you may have. Our two favorite places to dine were Soy and Kimonos, which serve sushi and hibachi and Gordon’s where we enjoyed a beautiful candlelit dinner on the pier. We only tried out four of the 12 restaurants because we had breakfast delivered to our room each morning and would frequent the same lunch spot.

Were there any activities to do at the resort as well as nighttime events? Yes, there were daily pool parties and nighttime dance parties with live bands. As for physically actives, there are plenty of land water sports as well unlimited scuba diving and a 9-hole golf course. We also loved visiting the spa for moonlit massage on the pier over the water.

What was all included with your bungalow package? Full access to all 12 restaurants, 6 full-service bars, all 5 pools and whirlpools, elite butler service, unlimited premium spirits and Mondavi wines, unlimited land and water sports, unlimited scuba diving, free wi-fi in all rooms and public areas, free room service, unlimited snacks and free non-stop round-trip airport transfers. Spa services are extra.

The Bungalow features: a large patio with Sandals signature Tranquility Soaking Tub™ for two, an over-the-water hammock, outdoor shower and a suspended patio with swim-up platform, sea-through glass floors, a king-size bed, and a spacious, spa-style bathroom. The room also contains a kitchenette complete with a fully stocked fridge, coffee maker and wine cooler.

Was there Wi-fi available? Yes and it’s free too!

How long was the ride to the resort from the airport and what transportation did you use? The resort is about an hour and a half from the airport and Sandals offers complimentary transportation to their guests. In fact, they do all the planning for you! All you have to do is let them know your checkout date and they’ll take it from there.

How did you leave this beautiful place? I didn’t! I’m still here! I hid in the bathtub during checkout! Just kidding, but I will definitely be coming back with Blake and hopefully soon!
