Engagement Photo Shoot Check List

Happy Wedding Wednesday everyone, today I’ve teamed up with Nordstrom to bring you an engagement photo shoot check list to help you achieve picture perfect goals to announce your big day! First things first, before you even read the checklist, do your research on local photographers to choose the right one to fit your vibe. That part is half the battle! Then you can work together to choose a location, time of day and what you’d like to be doing in the photos. Once you do all of this, then you’ll know what type of outfit to look for. Scroll through both his and hers checklists for tips.

Check List for The Ladies:

  1. Wear something that looks flattering on your body. Don’t just assume that a dress will photograph well on you just because it did in someone else’s photos. Choose an outfit that best suits your style and body type. Also, make sure it looks good from all angles so that you’re not limited with your poses during the shoot. If it’s too big in the back, get it altered.  This will help everything run smoothly throughout the shoot.

2. Set a style theme for your photos and then coordinate your outfits to make sure your looks mesh well together. There are so many ideas to choose from like warm and cozy at home, chic and minimalistic, fun and playful outdoors or sleek and romantic to name a few, but try to choose a theme that best represents you as a couple. Once you choose a theme and select outfits, create a Pinterest board to share with your photographer so he/she can see the vibe you’re going and capture exactly what you’re envisioning.

3. When it comes to hair and makeup, your engagement photo session is the perfect time to utilize your trial run with your desired hair and makeup team. If you don’t plan to hire a team, do your hair and makeup according to your outfit as well as your signature look. The key is to feel your best while taking photos so that it reflects in your body movement and facial expressions. If you don’t normally wear your

4. Make sure to get a manicure and pedicure for fresh nails to show off the ring! You can always do it yourself or if your current polish is chipping just remove it all.

5. If there is anything you remember to do at all, please please please, I beg you…Take the hair tie off of your wrist! There is nothing worse than spotting a ponytail holder on the future bride’s wrist in a beautiful photo.

Checklist for The Guys:

  1. Do not wait until the last minute to try on your outfit! Try it on a week before to give yourself time for any clothing alterations or changes you may need to make like new shoes or matching tie. Nordstrom has a great selection of menswear from performance sportswear and workwear, to denim, sweaters, shoes and accessories. So you’re bound to find a look you love. Plus they have the best and easiest return policies so you order a bunch of items to try on and then return what you don’t end up using.

2. If you’re nervous in front of the camera, have a drink or two before the shoot to help you loosen up.

3. Guys, I know that most of you don’t enjoy taking pictures, but if you just listen and do what you’re told during the shoot, the time will go by much faster and who knows! You might even have fun!

How To Style Olive Booties

Happy Tuesday Shoesday! Today I’ve partnered with Born Shoes to show you how to style the new Casco booties in olive. We all know how to style the neutral colored bootie, but how about olive green? Fortunately, this beautiful shade of green by Born Shoes made it easier than I expected. I’m sure you’ve seen me wear this exact same outfit with taupe suede booties, but I love the pop of deep olive green for a change. I honestly consider olive as a part of the neutral color family. However, if you’re not into olive but love this style, you’re in luck because it’s available in three other colors.

The best part about this exact pair is that they’re super comfortable especially for walking in all day. However, I’m not surprised since Born specializes in comfort and premium leathers. On top of that, the Chelsea style boot is timeless gives your wardrobe that effortless style we all strive for.

Scroll through this post to see how I styled these olive booties for an everyday fall look.

I love how the rich cognac color of my Jenni Saddle Bag complements these olive booties. Also, the camo print pairs perfectly with the green color without feeling too matchy matchy!

5 Tips For Hosting Overnight Guests

Happy Monday everyone, today I’ve teamed up with World Market to share 5 tips for hosting overnight guests at your home. Scroll through this post for ideas on how to make your guests feel right at home or even better along with plenty of cozy home decor inspiration.

  1. Let’s be real here…we all know what everyone really wants to know the minute they walk into your home…the Wifi password! Duh! So make it easy for them and instead of shouting out a bunch of numbers from across the room with you halfway under a table reading off the password from the router, write or print out the wifi network and password and set it on their nightstand.

2. Prior to their arrival, ask them what they like in their coffee along with breakfast and snack requests so you can stock the fridge with some of your guests meal preferences. I always love when hosts make sure to have almond milk on hand for me since I have a dairy sensitivity.

3. If your guest is arriving late in the night while you’re asleep, make sure to leave the lamp on in their room and turn down their sheets. Bottled water is a nice touch too along with a handwritten welcome note. Oh and don’t forget about extra pillows, blankets, bathroom towels and a spare toothbrush.

4. Don’t forget about space and organization for their belongings. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the storage room to leave the guest bedroom closet empty for guests to actually use. So I came up with an alternative way for my guests to hang their belongings and keep their luggage. I put together a nice rolling rack with some empty hangers for my guests to utilize during their stay. I’ve been meaning to add a cozy robe to the rack too.

5. If you want to make your guest feel extra special, put together a little basket of their favorites treats and snacks and set it on the dresser or nightstand. If your guest is a good friend that you haven’t seen in while, dig up some old pictures of the two of you and frame one to place somewhere in their room.

Statement Heels & Clutches For Fall

Hey everyone, every fall we see the same everyday, taupe suede booties, over the knee boots and neutral handbags, which we of course all need, love and wear…BUT I know we also crave something a little fun and funky to add to our wardrobes each season too. So I’ve teamed up with Sole Society to share some stunning statement heels and clutches for fall.

Scroll through this post to see how I styled this berry velvet clutch and printed mules from Sole Society.

When it comes to styling statement heels and clutches, they don’t need to match perfectly. They just need to complement each other. For example, this berry velvet clutch helps to pull out the deep burgundy color in the print on my shoes. You’ll also notice that I’m wearing three different textures of velvet in the top, bag and shoes. However, I made sure that they all paired well together first before heading out the door. You never want your statements pieces to compete with one another. You want them to highlight each other.
