Favorite Floral Dresses

Happy Friday everyone, today I’m sharing one of my favorite floral dresses from the Shopbop sale: The Steffee Dress! I just how love fun and flirty the skirt part looks and   the floral print really pops against the deep navy! I also like how the 3/4 sleeves keep it modest and appropriate for more formal occasions like church or work events.

The Steffee Dress has to be my absolute favorite style dress by Yumi Kim right next to the Rush Hour Maxi, which is also available in this beautiful print! If you love this look as much as I do, I’m sure you’ll be happy to hear that right now you can take up to 25% OFF both dresses with code: GOBIG17 at Shopbop! Happy Shopping!

Also, I’m not exaggerating when I say that the Steffee and Rush Hour Maxi dresses are my two favorite styles. I own about six of them in different prints! Crazy, I know, but they’re that good! See for yourself here—> Rush Hour Maxi Dress, Steffee Dress 1 & Steffee Dress 2

Olive Cold Shoulder Dress

Hi everyone! I’ve got the best news for you! Remember that olive cold shoulder dress you all loved on my Instagram? Well, it’s currently 40% OFF at Nordstrom, which brings it down to only $50! Plus it’s available in all sizes! See for yourself here! This little olive green dress is perfect for transitioning into spring and I’m obsessed with the open shoulder and keyhole detail. I wore it while I was in Charleston a couple weeks back and I can’t wait to take it back out again for a date night or stylish occasion.

Scroll through this post to see how I accessorized this olive cold shoulder dress for spring with some tan, strappy heels and rose gold jewels. Also, check the bottom of the post for sizing information.

For size reference, I am wearing the sz US 4, but I maybe should have gone with the US 6 since the sleeves are little snug! Also, I hemmed the length because I am only 5 ft tall so the dress is actually slightly longer. I think I took it up about two inches.

6 Things You Need to Throw the Perfect Mardi Gras Party

Hi everyone, I’m so excited that we are less than a week away from Fat Tuesday (aka Mardi Gras Day)! With that being said, today I’ve partnered up with Barq’s Root Beer to share 6 things you need to throw the perfect Mardi Gras Party to help you host a great day for you and your friends. Also, you don’t have to live in Louisiana to join in on the fun! With these tips, you can celebrate by creating your own version of Mardi Gras no matter where you live! Just be sure to invite the bite to your Mardi Gras celebrations with Barq’s Root Beer for an authentic touch of Carnival season. After all, Barq’s has been bringing the bite to Mardi Gras for more than 100 years.

6 Things You Need to Throw the Perfect Mardi Gras Party:

  1. Bring on the booze! Show your guests how to party New Orleans style with champagne and mixers complete with a mimosa and Bloody Mary bar.

2.  King Cake! I wouldn’t even consider the event a “Mardi Gras” party without King Cake! Some of my favorite local King Cake bakeries include: Haydel’s and Randazzo’s. If you don’t live around, not to worry because they also ship!

3. Purple, Green & Gold Decor! These colors are essential to your Carnival Celebration! I also like to set out a bunch of fun masks and beads for my guests to wear.

4. Refreshing drinks for the whole family to enjoy! I know I said that booze is a key factor to the party, but you also have to offer something that can quench everyone’s thirst. I love giving my guests classic Barq’s Root Beer because of its bold flavor and unique connection to the Gulf Coast. Barq’s is an authentic part of Mardi Gras considering how long it has been around. Plus both celebrate the boldness of the region – Barq’s with its unique “flavor” and Mardi Gras with its vibrant festivities.

5. A delicious spread of Louisiana style food & snacks! Let’s be real here, most people stop by Mardi Gras parties for the delicious food and drinks, which is why flavorful New Orleans food is key to a successful party. Some of these dishes include: jambalaya, fried chicken, gumbo, crawfish, shrimp and grits and red beans and rice. For snacks and finger foods, I suggest plenty of dips, chips, finger sandwiches and decorative cookies.

6. The great outdoors! Nothing beats having a nice outdoor entertaining area for your guests to enjoy the beautiful weather this time of year. If you only have a balcony, that’s even better since it goes with the New Orleans style vibe. Just make sure to add additional seating and tables for your guests. You can even decorate with cute tassels and banners from Fox Fete and Mardi Gras themed cups like these from White Elephant Designs.

Perforated Booties + Off The Shoulder Blouse

Hi everyone, today I’m styling one my favorite shoe trends: perforated booties. In case you missed it, I featured these tan, peep toe booties from Sole Society in a recent blog post, which are just as cute as the perforated booties in today’s post. However, what I like most about the peep toe booties that I’m wearing here is the trendy perforated detail. It adds some texture and gives them a slightly cooler and more casual vibe. They look great with jeans and even better with a pair of cutoff shorts.

For today’s look, I styled my booties with this amaze off the shoulder blouse and some cropped white denim for a chic transitional outfit into spring.
