Discovering Your #socialnetworth With The LSU Sororities

Happy Friday everyone! Before we jump into the weekend, I want to share my most recent social media workshop experience with you. About two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of speaking to over 450 LSU sorority girls about the power of social media and how to use it both responsibly and strategically. We had such an amazing turn out that we even had girls sitting on the floor!

I was so excited when the LSU Tri Delta chapter president, Laurel Upton reached out to me about the opportunity.  I immediately said yes and asked fashion blogger, Krystal of A Pinch of Lovely and local New Orleans beauty expert, Ashley Sievert to join me in sharing our personal experiences involving social media. We called the event ‘Discovering your #socialnetworth’ because we want all young women and girls to realize their individual worth on social media.

We made a play on words with social ‘net worth’ to ask the girls how they individually value themselves on social media. Obviously, we weren’t there to rate them. We wanted the students to rate themselves to help them decide if they need to re-eavaulate the type of the content their posting. This is vital to do because even if you aren’t seeking a career in social media, the photos and words you post online are still a reflection of who you are as a individual. The majority of employers scan your Facebook and Instagram before interviewing  you because they want to see how you openly portray yourself online and if that correlates with the type of person they want representing their company.

Once we got that point across, we mostly focused on the positive aspects of social media and what amazing things it can lead to by using it responsibly and strategically. For example, without social media my business wouldn’t even exist. And all of the amazing opportunities that I’ve experienced over these past few years would have never been possible. I created my very own dream job just by sharing what I love through social media.

If you would have told me four years ago that one day I’d design my very own handbag with a huge company in New York or that I would be working for myself, attending New York Fashion Week and collaborating with big brand names like Old Navy, Kendra Scott, H&M, Yosi Samra, Chinese Laundry, World Market and GiGi New York, I would have never believed you.

Actually, I take that back, I might have believed you because I always knew that I’d never allow myself to have a normal job, but I had no idea that it would all stem from social media. It is truly incredible what social media outlets like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and now snapchat can empower you to do, and that’s why I like to share my story with young women to introduce the world of careers on social media.

Back to the designing bags part, as a way to show the girls all the wonderful things that can stem from social media, I partnered up with GiGi New York to giveaway a Jenn Bucket Bag that I designed with them last October. This was such a huge accomplishment for me so I wanted to share that with the girls by giving one away especially since the bag has already moved its way up to one of Gigi New York’s top sellers. Good Morning readers, as you know I just recently returned from an amazing trip to Cabo San Lucas with Blake (my boyfriend) and my blogger besties: A Pinch of Lovely, My Style Diaries and Carrie Bradshaw Lied. We also had the pleasure of bringing along amazing photographer and now friend, Taylor Cole! We stayed in Pedregal at Casa Verde thanks to the lovely ladies at ShopBellaC. We had the most amazing view of the Pacific ocean as well as all of Pedregal from our suites as you can see in the photo below! Be sure to scroll through the rest of the post to see photos of all the fun things we got to experience in Cabo.cabo-san-lucas

Before we sat down for a lovely dinner, the hosts gave us a tour of Flora Farms! Thank goodness we were able to carry around our drinks because it was so hot out that night!

Bar Esquina at the Bahia Hotel was by far my favorite restaurant that we ate at during our trip. In fact, we loved it so much, we ate there for lunch and dinner! For dinner, I ordered the lobster pasta and for lunch we split all kinds of gourmet pizzas, salads, sandwiches and cocktails.

cabo-arches

I’d have to say that the top highlight our Cabo San Lucas trip was the sunset cruise with Cabo Fishing and Tours on the Blue Sky boat. The weather was absolutely perfect with just the right amount of breeze and the sunset views were stunning. On top of that, the crew made sure that we had a cold beer in hand at all times and the captain allowed us to all get as many photos as we wanted in front of the beautiful Cabo arches. As you can see here, we got plenty! Even though we had a camera, they made sure to get plenty of photos for us too with their camera in case we missed anything. The boat ride lasted two hours and the only thing I could complain about is that I wish I were still there now on that boat instead of at my desk. This crew truly went above and beyond for us! We will definitely be coming back!  Oh and in case you’re wondering, you’re allowed to bring snacks too!!haute-off-the-rack

Good Morning readers! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! Mine was amazing because I’m currently in Cabo San Lucas with Blake and my blogger besties! Make sure to check out all of the fun on snapchat: @HauteOffTheRack

As for the Gigi New York Jenn Bucket Bag, I’m so thrilled that the bucket bag I designed last November 2014 is back for another season in brand new colors. I’m carrying the new Slate color, which I love because I’m all about shades of grey this fall. I also love love love the new Bone Color.

Lastly, if you’ve been following me on Instagram then you know that I’m currently obsessed with sleeveless outerwear! It’s the perfect chic and stylish piece for that awkward transitional period in between summer and fall. Don’t worry though, you’ll still be able to wear them into fall too! I highly recommend the olive vest in today’s post. I like the fit so much that I bought it in two colors! I also highly suggest this sleeveless trench too that you’ll be seeing in some upcoming blog posts–> Sleeveless Lightweight Trench Coat
