Hi everyone, I hope you had a nice weekend! I’m sure most of you are wondering why me and mom look nothing alike, but I swear I’m not adopted! My mom is Italian and my dad is Filipino and I guess I just took more of the Filipino genes! Also, yes, I’m aware that my mom is in way better shape than I am, but she’s super aggressive in the gym and I’m super aggressive with a box of Oreos so yea!

I do, however possess a few of her characteristics; some good and some bad. We’ll start with the bad ones first! Haha! We’re both always late for everything! It’s actually pretty funny that when Lainey (my photographer) and I showed up at my mom’s house this morning for 9 am, which is the time SHE requested, she was literally still in the shower! What the heck mom! I wasn’t really surprised though! I grew up always running 15 minutes behind, which is why I have zero concept of time. We always manage to figure it out though and I’m still working on the issue!

We’re also inappropriate laughers like we can’t help but laugh when people trip and fall or do something really embarrassing. She told me she even laughed when I was I getting my shots at the Doctor’s office before I started preschool because my facial expressions were so funny! She said felt so bad laughing in front of the nurses!

We even laugh in the middle of serious fights, but I actually think can be a good thing and that brings me to one of the positive traits I’ve taken from her. No matter how bad the situation is, my mom can always find something positive and make a joke out of it, which I think is what keeps me going in life. Instead of harping on how awful something is, we find a way to either laugh it off or look at the bright side of things and move on.

I also like to think I have her drive and enthusiasm. She’s always on the go and constantly talking or laughing except when she’s posted up on the couch all dramatic claiming she has the busiest life.

She’s also super generous and I don’t mean to me. Yea, no, unfortunately she is not one shower me with gifts like ever, but she is super generous when it comes to offering her time to others in need.  For example, she and I have coached a special needs cheerleading squad along with my best friend every Wednesday night for the past two years. She also offers them additional private strength training classes. On top of that, she’s always looking to offer a hand to someone who needs it whether its cooking for her neighbors when they’re sick or taking in two children she barely knows whose father is in the hospital.

By no means is this woman perfect, but I am so at least she did something right! Kidding!!!   Any mother who teaches her children about humility, laughter, love, determination, confidence and how to always look for a light in any negative situation is a perfect mom in my book.
