Doves of a Feather, Flock Together

Photos by: Stewart Sheilds
Good Morning readers, I’m so thrilled to finally share this post with you! Remember when I first told you about the Doves of a Feather necklace? In case you didn’t, I basically designed this necklace with Dotted Tusk in honor of the graduating seniors of St. Scholastica Academy as a graduation present to my sister. I originally had the necklace made for solely my sister and her friends, but then I realized I wanted to extend the offer to everyone. I really want these feather charms to serve as a reminder of the sisterhood they shared with each other at SSA. They may not realize it now, but years later they’ll find themselves longing for those picnic tables and worry free lives. These SSA girls were such a pleasure to work with! They’re are all so beautiful and full of life. I wish them each the very best, but I have no doubt that the class of 2013 will lead wonderful lives and accomplish great things.
The necklace is available for purchase under my under my Haute Looks page here–> Doves of a Feather necklace. This necklace was designed in honor of the graduating seniors of SSA. However, it is not limited to just SSA seniors. This necklace is perfect to give as a graduation gift as well as gifts to current SSA students, newcomers to SSA, SSA alums and anyone who would enjoy a simple gold feather necklace.

I aslo want to a few lyrics from the song “For Good” from Wicked that my best friend and I sang together at the SSA farewell assembly when we graduated. I think that all of you graduating seniors will find that you can relate to these words.
For Good
(Glinda) I’ve heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don’t know if I believe that’s true
But I know I’m who I am today
Because I knew you
(Elphaba) It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You’ll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend…
Because I knew
(Both) I have been changed for good

Good Morning readers, these simple yet beautiful necklaces are what Dotted Tusk and I have been working on the past month. My younger sister, Kate Palpallatoc is graduating from St. Scholastica Academy this year, which is an all girl school where I graduated from too. Thinking about her graduating from high school brought all kinds of memories flooding back. SSA is where I made a few of my best friends and experienced some of the greatest moments of my life. I wouldn’t trade those memories for the world so I decided to design a necklace that would serve as a reminder of the sisterhood she shared with the rest of her class. Considering that SSA’s mascot is the dove, I thought a simple gold feather would be the perfect charm to remind them that “Doves of a feather flock together,” and that they’ll always share connection. The song on the card is actually the Irish Blessing that we used sing to the seniors each year at the farewell assembly and graduation when I was in high school.
These are the lyrics that I chose:
“May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of his hand.”
The bottom of the card says:
This necklace was designed in honor of the graduating seniors of St. Scholastica Academy. May this feather be a reminder of the sisterhood you shared with the class of 2013.

This beautiful cross painting was given to me from my friend Abby for standing in her wedding. She and her mom painted these canvases together to thank everyone for helping make her wedding special. It’s such a stunning painting and it’s the perfect reminder of why we are all celebrating Easter this weekend. I hope you all have a wonderful and happy Easter.
P.S. I also have a photo shoot scheduled with my sister and some her friends who will modeling the necklace for you in a blog post after Spring Break so keep your eyes out!

Neon & Tribal Prints

Outfit: Entire outfit & jewelry c/o Frock Candy
Good Morning readers, I hope you all had a great weekend. I had an amazing weekend in New Orleans for one of my best friend’s weddings, which is why I didn’t post anything yesterday. I was exhausted! Anyway, I wanted to share these Frock Candy photos with you from my most recent collaboration with them for their Spring 2013 ad campaign. I loved shooting this bright and tribal printed look with their team. I plan to wear these printed shorts all summer long! The photographer for Frock Candy was so phenomenal that I have asked her to work with me on Haute Off The Rack. I’m sure you’ve seen some of her work by now on my blog from the posts on Candy Apple:: a Blog Shop featuring the neon maxi and the black and white outfit. She’s so talented and I love her positive energy. I can’t wait to see more of her work on Haute Off The Rack.
P.S. Below are a few snapshots from the wedding, but don’t worry once we get the professional photos back I plan to do an entire post on the wedding because it was absolutely beautiful!

Good Morning readers, aren’t you so glad that it’s finally Friday? I am, and today is extra special because one of my best friends, Abby is getting married tomorrow and I’m one of the bridesmaids. I’ve never been a bridesmaid before so I’m really excited for all the festivities to begin. Anyway about the outfit, I can’t help but instantly feel cooler when I slip on a pair of distressed denim jeans, a plain white tee and some aviators. I mean you can’t get much cooler than that. Right? I completed the look with a collared necklace from T+ J Designs for some added flair and the mint clutch for a fresh pop of color. I think this is such a great transitional outfit into spring. What do you think? Oh and about the title, these photos just reminded me of the intro to the song “Tiny Dancer” when he sings “Blue Jean Baby, L.A. Lady, Seamstress for the band.” Plus I just really like that song! 🙂
P.S. I just thought I should warn you to get ready for wedding picture overload on my Instagram and Facebook this weekend. Here are two photos from the Bridal Luncheon at Galatoire’s in New Orleans yesterday! Obviously the bride-to-be is in the middle wearing a a gorgeous lace BCBG dress.

Have a great weekend everyone!
