Good Morning readers, since this is my second maxi dress post with one more to follow, I am officially naming this week: Maxi Week! Recently, a petite friend of mine said that she would like to start wearing more maxi dresses, but that she feels extra short and frumpy when wearing one. Since I am also petite in height, she asked me if I could show her the best ways for petite women to pull off maxi dresses. Luckily for her, maxi dresses along with flare jeans and high-wasited skirts, are one of the best items of clothing to make yourself appear taller and leaner. Choosing a maxi dress with an empire waist or high slits will make your legs seem longer. You can also wear your tallest pair of heels beneath a maxi without slits to make yourself look taller. It’s like an illusion and no will know because your shoes are hidden. See for yourself in yesterday’s posts here–>A Whole Mu World
If you’re only 5′ ft and super petite like myself, it’s best to avoid any type of maxi with a drop waist because that will only make your legs look even shorter. I think maxi dresses with slits through the legs are the most flattering type of maxi because it allows movement and shows off your shoes. This maxi dress that I wore for my last WBRZ News segment is the perfect example of a flattering maxi dress for petite women because it has a nice empire waist, high slits for movement and the change in the print creates a breaking point from the waist to the rest of the dress giving it a more slimming affect on the body.
For all of my friends in New York, VSA will be hosting their second trunk show at Bergdorf Goodman! Virgins Saints & Angels is one of my longtime favorite lines of jewelry to wear as everyday jewelry. Don’t get me wrong, they have a ton of statement pieces, but I have always loved their long pendant necklaces to layer on with my other everyday necklaces. My favorite is the San Benito Charm Necklace, which is picture above.
