Outfit: Tan dress (Mackage),  color block heels (Boutique 9),  black clutch (Chanel)

Jewelry: Monogram necklace, J. Crew,  Banana Republic,  Michael Kors

Shanghai Express lipstick (Nars)

Happy President’s Day!

I think the shoulder pads and removable peplum around the waist make this Mackage dress look super fashion forward, and it goes perfect with these Boutique 9 color block heels!  I actually got the both of these items from Park Lane boutique where I work!  Park Lane carries such great one of a kind pieces like clothing from Mackage as well as gowns from Theia, Dee Keller shoes, Elizabeth and James apparel and so much more!

On another note,  I’m really excited because jewelry designers, Donna Guidry and Mary out of Los Angeles, California are sending me a few pieces from their new Spring collection to feature on my blog!  They’re line is called  Bijoutiere and they have designed jewelry for actresses Sasha Pieterse from Pretty Little Liars, Kirsten Storms for Runway magazine and a many other celebs.  Needless to say, I can’t wait to show you their pieces!

I hope you enjoyed this post and have a wonderful day!

Here are a few other fashion forward pieces by Mackage:

P.S.  Mackage is a tad pricey, but the dress I’m wearing above is 50% OFF today as well as a ton of other items on their web site!

Hello everyone,  I’m so glad that is finally Mardi Gras break and weekend has begun! I will post a Mardi Gras style board at some point this weekend for you!

As for the outfit,  I absolutely love black and cobalt blue together!  In the photos above, I’m wearing a pair of DL 1961 coated denim which are made to look like leather pants!  I tried black coated denim in a few different brands before choosing DL 1961, and I found these to be the most comfortable pair.  I own a few other pairs by DL 1961 and I highly recommend them. They’re flattering to any body type because of their 360 stretch and their comfort level is superb!!  I paired a faux leather jacket and a black fringe purse to maintain the edgy look and cobalt, blue blouse to add some color.  I think this outfit is perfect for casual Friday at work or even out that night!

P.S. Sorry about my hair in these pictures.  These photos were from the 8 am, freezing cold/rainy photo shoot with Gretchen!  Speaking of Gretchen… I want to congratulate her and my friend Haley Costa to making to the final cut audition for NOLA Fashion week.  Wish them luck!!

Presidents Day Weekend

Also, I just want to remind you that it is President’s day weekend and tons of your favorite stores like: Banana RepublicAnn Taylor, Tory Burch, Forever 21 etc. will be having great promotions on full priced items as well as sale items making this the perfect weekend to get some early spring shopping done!  Have a great weekend everyone!

Good morning everyone!  I hope you all had an excellent Valentine’s Day.

Yesterday, I featured Gretchen in some casual work wear and today’s post is about how to take that look from day to night by just adding a few simple things.  First, Gretchen took down her hair and applied some lipstick to freshen up her look.  Next, she threw on a peach, boyfriend blazer and some nude heels.  Then, to complete the look she pulled a sequin clutch out of her work tote!  How simple is that!  If you like to freshen up a bit before having a few drinks after work without going home first, I recommend keeping these four items on hand:

1)   Boyfriend blazer – I think boyfriend blazers make any outfit look effortlessly chic.  I personally like colored blazers like my peach one that Gretchen is wearing pictured above, but a black or navy will do just fine!  Click (here) to find an inexpensive, colored blazer from Forever 21 to achieve the look!

2)   Nude pumps– To me, nude heels go with everything and even lengthen your legs.

3)  a Clutch–  I suggest keeping a fun colored clutch in your work tote to dress up your outfit; plus you won’t have to lug around large tote bag all night.

4)  Lipstick– I believe that lipstick is essential to completing your look.  It brightens up your whole face.  I like wearing colors that really pop like: Nars Heat WaveNars Shanghai Express or Fever by Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Creme.

Just to update you, yesterday’s photo shoot with Fashion Inspiration Feature, Megan Discon, went perfectly!  We couldn’t have asked for more beautiful weather!  Now I’m on the search for my next F.I.F.  Please feel free to email me if you know someone with an impeccable fashion sense who would enjoy being featured by Haute Off The Rack!

I hope you all have a great day!
