Good Morning readers, today I’m sharing some of my “cashmere moments” with you. I remember the first time I learned of cashmere. I was shopping with my mom and grandmother during the thanksgiving holidays and shockingly my ten-year-old self didn’t really enjoy shopping trips with mom. I recall pouting about having to go to store after store looking for clothes to fit my mom’s petite 4’11 frame until I came across this ridiculously soft pastel sweater. I immediately skipped over to my mom’s dressing room and proceeded to tell her about the the amazingly soft sweater I needed her to buy me. Once she saw the sweater that I had pranced into her dressing room with, she didn’t hesitate for second before saying, “Absolutely not! 10-year-olds don’t need cashmere. Cashmere is for women” I shot her a confused and angry look before saying, “Mom! What are you talking about! This is a baby blue sweater! It’s not cashmere! I don’t even know cashmere is!” Needless to say, I didn’t win the battle considering I was ten and she was the one with the money.
It wasn’t until many years later that I understood why I didn’t deserve that sweater. Cashmere is a luxury and just like any other luxuries in life, it is meant to be enjoyed and appreciated. My ten-year-old self would have that “baby blue sweater” on the floor of my messy room in no time and then thrown under the bed when my mom yelled for me to clean my room. Now, as a somewhat mature 24-year-old I know how to properly care for my cable knit cashmere sweater in “ice cap blue” and it’s a prized piece of clothing that I like to pull out for special yet simple moments like the first cool front of the season or coffee and donuts on a cozy Sunday morning with my boyfriend. It’s the sweet and simple luxuries that I enjoy the most during fall and the holidays like going for a walk around my downtown Covington when the leaves first start to fall and decorating the house with pumpkins and eventually wreathes and Christmas trees. Good Morning readers, tomorrow is the big day at Emma’s Shoes in Metairie. I can’t wait to see all of you at my Halloween event featuring a handbag trunk show with MZ Wallace! You’ve got the carseat, the stroller, the diaper bag, the pacifier that she keeps throwing on the ground and oh yea, the baby! What mom has extra hands for a handbag? Good Morning readers, whether you’re petite or tall, I know this grey skirt will fit nicely into your fall wardrobe. This simple flippy skirt is one of my favorite pieces in my closet right now because it so comfortable and versatile plus it’s still warm enough to show off your bare legs. As you can see, Krystal and I both styled this skirt two different ways and we’re both completely different heights, which goes to show that the flippy skirt trend works for almost all shapes and sizes. Krystal is 5″9 and pencil thin and I am 5 ft with a little more curve and hip action. Will you be rocking a floppy skirt this fall?

Good Morning readers, I am so excited to finally announce that I have been working with Gigi New York over the past few months to design my very own handbag! May I now present to you (drumroll please)…the Jenn Bucket Bag! My inspiration to go forward with this style was my own wardrobe’s lack of a good quality leather bucket bag. I have actually been on a hunt for the perfect bucket bag over the past couple of years, but none of the styles I came across ever met my standards. I’m so glad that with the help of GiGi New York, I have finally designed the bucket bag of my dreams that I get to share with all of you!
The Jenn Bucket Bag comes in Navy, Black, Stone (pictured above) and Kelly Green. Q. Do you consider this satchel a great everyday handbag? Is this style practical for the everyday woman?
A. Yes, I think the Jenn bucket bag is a great everyday bag because of its chic and functional design. It can be worn on your shoulder as well as a cross body bag and there is a cell phone pocket inside for your convenience as well as a secondary zippered pocket for your keys or keep-safe items. It will of course also fit your wallet, a few beauty essentials and even your mini ipad if you must. Even women in the business world need a secondary bag without the laptop and the papers and files they have to lug around all day. Everyone needs a bag that fits just their main necessities that they can just grab and go!
Q. Does the shape and colors make this a staple handbag?
A. I absolutely believe that a bucket style bag should be a staple in every woman’s closet especially in a classic color like navy or stone. It’s my go-to bag when I just need get out of the house in a hurry. I like to refer to it as my grab-and-go bag because I can just dump all of makeup and jewelry in it and finish in the car when my boyfriend yells from the couch, “are you ready yet?” for the seventh time in 10 minutes.
Q. What do you believe the demographics for this style will be and why?
A. Since the bag can be worn as a cross body bag, I feel like it will appeal to women of all ages. I’ve seen both my teenage sister and my 80-year-old grandmother carrying a bucket bag before. It’s just such an easy bag and it gives you that effortlessly stylish look we all crave. You know… that whole “I woke up like this” look.

Q. How does the bag function? Ex: Work? Day? Evening?
A. The Jenn bucket bag is more of a daytime bag than anything else. However, I would still take it out at night too for dinner or to grab drinks. It’s great for travel, a day in the city or just running errands around town. Like I mentioned previously, it will fit your phone, your keys, a few beauty essentials and your wallet! This bag keeps you from bringing along all of that excess stuff that you really don’t need while you’re out and about.
Q. What is your favorite feature of this bag?
A. My favorite feature of this bag is the python embossed leather body and the tassel details on the drawstring. I also love that it has a double strap so that it can be worn multiple ways.
