NOLAFW Day 5

Good Morning readers, the following photos are from my attempt to capture the Tallulah Designs Fall 2013 Collection Presentation.  Tallulah Designs’ and Amanda Deleon’s collections were among my top favorites during NOLA Fashion Week, which is what you’ll be seeing on Haute Off The Rack today.

Each of Tallulah’s pieces from the vibrant and colorful prints to the brocade-textured skirts and dresses can be worked into your daily wardrobe and even worn for special occasions.  The classic and lady-like style of her clothing make it easy for you to  transition the pieces from day to night with just a few tweaks to your accessories.

This textured winter-white cape was by far the most beautiful piece by Tallulah Designs. I can’t wait to get my hands on it in the Fall.

At this point, I realized that I better let the professional photographers take over.  So the following photos are by Black and Geauxld Photography and Brei Olivier.

We saw so many stunning shades of the color of the year on the runways this season, Pantone 17-5641 Emerald Green.

Amanda Deleon put the audience into a trance with her exquisitely detailed collection.  Each individual detail from the gold sequins and rich velvet fabric to the the detailed leather cut-outs and draped fringe could bring a tear to your eye from its astounding beauty.

“It’s as if Amanda went into my head, tapped into my black + gold dreams,
and then made them in tulle and leather,” said Sarah Barnett of Think Twice Style.

“The Amanda DeLeon show blew our minds as expected,” said Katie Dumestre and Rachel Adams of The Elizabeth Chronicles,  “If you didn’t look close enough you would miss something carefully molded into the leather.”

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend!  I actually caught a little cold so I apologize for my super late post today, but better late than never right?  I’m so glad that I’ve been able to share my NOLA Fashion Week experience with you via my blog and social media.  I’d love to hear your feed back on what you’d like to see more of for next season.

Just to fill you in, this week you’ll be seeing my March Fashion Feature, Kimberly of Penny Pincher Fashion, some St. Patrick’s day inspiration and what to expect from Candy Apple’s pop-up shop on Saturday March, 23.  I’m also super exciting to collaborate with Yael of Madly-Yours  this week to introduce you to her adorable clutch collection.

Good Morning readers, please allow me to introduce you to the co-founder of NOLA Fashion Week, the designer of Hazel & Florange and the voice behind Oui We Girl, Andi Eaton.  It is my pleasure to share her photos, words and designs with you.  Andi allowed me to preview her new collection last night before her show today so that I could share a little sneak peek with my readers.  If you live in the New Orleans area, try to make it to her collection presentation tonight at the Saratoga on 212 Loyal Ave. in New Orleans at 7 pm.

Inspiring, Southern, and talent are the three words Andi Eaton, the creative director of the NOLA Fashion Council, used to describe New Orleans Fashion Week. She said the week has really grown to focus on more than just runway shows.

“Of course runway shows will always be the foundation of what we do, but in our fifth season I can say now that we have a more well-rounded week of events,” said Eaton.

According to Eaton, the NOLA Fashion Council has made its education workshop series and local retail support main priorities by hosting special events throughout the year, such as the Shop Your City day and the Business of Fashion workshop.

What fall trends and colors can we expect to see on the runway during NOLA Fashion Week this spring?

“
I’d expect we’ll see some emerald green because it’s having such a moment right now. I also think we’ll see lots of mixed textures and patterns as dressing in the south and in a tropical climate for the fall and winter is about layering textures and always including a pop of color with muted tones.”

Nola Fashion Week has proved to be a huge success the past few seasons. As the founder of NOLA Fashion week, what kind of struggles did you and the NOLA FC have to face to make it where you are now?

“Well, we are a small start up organization so there will always be a struggle with fundraising and just finding the time to get everything done. We are a team of around 8-10 core people doing the work of what should probably 100 people. We literally couldn’t do what we do with out the help of our volunteers like LSU’s Hemline Club and sponsors like Wisznia Architecture and Development.”

Andi, you always seem to have your hands full whether you’re styling an editorial shoot, working on your fashion blog, Oui We or preparing for a week long of runway shows. What keeps you together? What keeps you sane?

“Ha, I’m not sure how sane I am but I think surrounding yourself with good friends and colleagues that always are supportive no matter what is crucial for me. And Google calendar alerts.”

Good Morning readers, I know you are all anxiously waiting to find out the winner of the Gigi New York Clutch Giveaway.  I promise that I will announce the winner by tonight.  So make sure to check back later this evening to see the name of the winner on this post!  Or Follow me on Instagram @HauteOffTheRack where I will also be announcing the winner.

As for this outfit, one of my favorite things to wear is my Mother Denim jeans with a white blouse and some colorful jewelry and accessories. It’s such an easy go-to outfit, and I swear I could live in my Mother Denim Curfew Bell Jeans.  I have never come a across a pair of jeans that is both as flattering and comfortable as the The Curfew Bell.

Let me just say that when it comes to denim, Mother knows best.  No, I’m not talking about my own mother I’m talking about designers Tim Kaeding, former designer for 7 for All Mankind, and Lela Tillem, former president of sales and marketing at Citizens for Humanity who collaborated together to create this killer brand.  These are the most amazingly comfortable, yet flattering pair of jeans I have ever worn!  That is probably because Tim Kaeding has been experimenting with materials that feel like cashmere, but look like denim for the past two years.  What a genius! Right? I don’t know about you all, but some mornings I wake up and want to wear nothing more than a pair of comfy yoga pants.  Kaeding has acknowledged this and says that in order “for jeans to make a comeback, technology has to step in” (http://www.vogue.com).  That explains why it doesn’t even feel like I’m wearing real jeans.  However, Mother doesn’t just pride on texture, the designer duo continually develop new fits. If you’re interested in learning more about Mother Denim, check out this awesome interview on Denimology.

I so enjoyed getting to meet one of my favorite bloggers, Helena of Brooklyn Blonde.  She and her fiance’ were so sweet, and I was shocked to find out that he was behind all of the amazing photos on her blog.  Kim of Eat Sleep Wear also serves as her photographer as well and visa versa. Bloggers working together! I love it!

Peck hosted a trunk show at Total Woman boutique on Magazine St. in New Orleans on Shop Your City Day.  It was such an honor to meet him and see his work. His spring/summer 2013 collection is full of neon colors, floral origami prints and geographical pieces imprinted with a historical Parisian map of 1850.

Good Morning readers, I hope you had a great weekend.  My weekend was amazing!  I had the honor of covering Shop Your City Day with Krystal Bennet of A Pinch of Lovely to kick off NOLA Fashion Week. Needless to say, we had a blast and got to hang out with two of my favorite fashion bloggers, Kim Pesch of Eat Sleep Wear and Helena Glazer of Brooklyn Blonde.  We started off the morning bright and early at Paris Parker salon in New Orleans for complimentary blowouts.  I was so impressed with their customer service and loved how my hair turned out! After hair and makeup, we headed to Hattie Sparks to enjoy shopping and mimosas with Andi Eaton, Lauren Lagarde and New York bloggers, Eat Sleep Wear and Brooklyn Blonde.  The NYC bloggers were so nice and even more beautiful in person.  I really enjoyed getting to know them on a more personal level considering that I read their blogs daily.  It was refreshing to learn that I had more things in common with these amazingly successful bloggers than I had expected like how all to love to just lounge around the house in oversized pajamas all day when we aren’t all dressed up.  Either go big or go home and get in your boyfriend’s XL tee-shirt, baggy pants and a so-called bun.

I was also thrilled to finally meet Hattie Moll, the owner of the fabulous boutique, Hattie Sparks.  She was just as cute and sweet as I had suspected. I can’t wait to visit the store again or to get my hands on that adorable black and white jacket pictured above with Kim.  After visiting with Hattie and everyone, we stopped by Angelique, Loft 3 H, and Total Woman.  To see how the rest of our day went, check us out on Instagram and Twitter at @HauteOffTheRack & @KrsytalBennet!

P.S. Today is the last day to enter the Gigi New York Clutch Giveaway!
