Hi everyone, in case you missed Day 1, Day 2 , Day 3 and Day 4 of our FQ Stylecation, I will fill you in! I teamed up with Krystal of A Pinch of Lovely and Juley of Upperlyne & Co to give you five whole days of New Orleans fashion, food and fun just in time for Mardi Gras! We’ll tell you all of the snazziest places to drink, dine and wine (oh and sleep) in New Orleans.
French Quarter Stylecation: (noun) /stīl/ + \vā-ˈkā-shən, və-\ = a style guide on what to wear to all of the snazziest places to eat, drink, party and sleep in New Orleans!
I hope you enjoyed our cooking class from Day 4 at the New Orleans School of Cooking! You’ll have to let me know if you attempt the recipe for New Orleans Style Grits and Grillades!
On Day 5 of our French Quarter Stylecation we strolled through Royal Street and eventually made our way to the Bevolo Gas and Electric Lighting show room. The front of the venue gives off a stunning glow from all of the gas lights that line the exposed brick walls. I can only imagine how beautiful the venue looks decorated for a wedding or rehearsal dinner! I’m not even engaged yet, but I still keep that idea in the back of my mind. Anyway, in the back of the showroom you can watch the coppersmiths hand-create their famous gas lamps and even learn the history behind Bevolo, which as been around since 1945.

Before dinner, we glammed ourselves up a bit with the help of hairstylist, Courtney Johnson and headed to Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse on Iberville Street.
We started off the night with some of Dickie Brennan’s specialty cocktails in one of their six private dining rooms. They hid us in a private dining room to avoid us scaring off customers while standing on our chairs to take pictures of the delectable dishes! Speaking of delectable dishes, our Barbecue Shrimp & Grits and Fried P&J Oyster appetizers blew me away! I mean, I’ve eaten fried oysters many of times, but something about that McIlhenny Chipotle Tabasco cream sauce just does me in!
My fresh and crisp wedge salad did not disappoint!
Anytime Krystal and I dine at Steakhouses, we never order the steak! We actually usually either order the same dish or split our meal. However, Dickie Brennan’s appetizing selection of nightly specials and sides encouraged us try a few new plates. Krystal ordered the osso buco special and sautéed mushrooms and I chose the steamed Maine Lobster and grilled asparagus. I may or may not have eaten the entire Lobster!
Chef Sara delivered our main courses herself along with the help our amazing waiter, Roy. She even brought us our own paper chef hats to wear. I’m sure you can tell how we felt about that from the expressions on our faces below!
After dinner we enjoyed triple chocolate cake for dessert in the main dining room with Roy so that we could experience both atmospheres of the restaurant.
In case you’re wondering who those random men are in the photo below, they’re exactly that– random men in town for a conference in New Orleans who insisted on joining our dessert photo session. They were were cracking me up with all of their silly pose ideas!
You didn’t think we were going home after dinner on our last night in New Orleans, right? I didn’t think so! Even though we were stuffed from dinner, we knew we couldn’t leave the French Quarter without visiting Pat O’s also known as the Piano Bar for some sweet Hurricanes and a little late night fun on the courtyard.
