My Recent Stay In The New Orleans South Market District
Happy weekend everyone, today I’m sharing a review of my recent staycation at the Ace Hotel in the New Orleans South Market District. As much as I love to travel away from my home in Louisiana, I still always enjoy a delicious staycation in NOLA. If you’re wondering what I mean by “delicious” staycation, just scroll through these photos and I think you’ll figure it out! They don’t call New Orleans the ‘Big Easy’ for nothing! In other words, the food is so good, you big real easy!

The rooftop at the Ace Hotel is definitely a must-see when visiting the South Market District.
Stop by The Company Burger for mouthwatering milkshakes, house made fries, fresh creole tomatoes and the most delicious double cheeseburgers. Oh and get this, you can add an egg to any burger plus a variety of their signature in-house mayos! Be sure to try the Fancy Mayo and Chipotle Mayo. Those two are my faves!

Willa Jean, Oh Willa Jean— a name I would be better off without knowing. I say this because I constantly find myself day dreaming about their chocolate-chip cookies served with a side of raw cookie dough and sweet milk. Y’all! My mouth is watering right now as I write this. I can’t even begin to explain how delicious their brunch menu is so you’re just going to have to try it out for yourself, but be sure to make reservations ahead of time or you might never get a table! Also, you must order one of their famous frozés (aka frozen rosé) and/or one of their tasty Bloody Mary’s!
If you aren’t too full from chicken biscuits and chocolate chip cookies at Willa Jean, swing by Blaze Pizza for dinner to create your own custom pizza and have it made right it in front of you.

How To Wear The Utility Vest Now
Happy Friday everyone, if you’ve been following along with Haute Off The Rack for the past few years, then you know that I have a whole closet full of olive vests and jackets. However, I always only wear them in the fall and don’t think I’ve ever worn one during the summer. So when I recently came across this olive utility vest on ModCloth’s site I knew I had to have it, but didn’t want to wait all of the way until fall to wear it. I was determined to style it with a summer look, but I was going to wait for the right outfit. Finally, I decided to take it for a spin with a pair of black high waist shorts and a striped tank. I love the idea of wearing fitted, high waist shorts, but then once I’ve got them on I feel so exposed. In most cases, I would have just left my shirt untucked, but then it just really defeats the whole purpose of high waist shorts so the vest was the perfect solution. I get to show how cute the shorts are from the front, but then I don’t feel so exposed in the back.

Packing For Miami Swim Week With Tresemmè

Key West Travel Review
Good morning readers, as promised I am sharing a Key West Travel Review from my recent girl’s getaway with Krystal from A Pinch of Lovely. We stayed in a beautiful, lifestyle room at the Gates Hotel Key West about five minutes outside of the busy downtown area. I would describe the hotel as road trip motel meets contemporary-chic with it’s white-washed wood floors and walls and the gorgeous modern art in every room.

The souvenir shop right by Cuban Coffee Queen was probably one of our favorite spots because of all the colorful buoys and the Key West greeting wall mural.

Packing Tips: The tip I’m about to give you may be the most important tip of your entire Key West trip: DO NOT OVERPACK! They literally will not let you on the plane! Yes, you read that right! We got turned away at the Delta check-in desk because we had too many suitcases. Apparently, you’re only allowed one checked bag because the planes that fly into Key West’s airport are super small and the extra weight would throw off the balance. Scary thought, right? Anyway, we had to completely reschedule our flights for the following day so that we could go home and condense our bags!

Key West Highlights
Favorite Restaurant: Hogfish
I’ll definitely be back for: more fish tacos! Just kidding! Well kind of… I really do need to go back for their epic sunsets that we just so happened to miss everyday! Bummer I know! I’ll also be back for more Key Lime Pie on a stick!
Least Favorite Part: Giants lizards & the insane heat and humidity!
Coolest Part of Gates Hotel Key West: The fact that they have a food truck instead of regular restaurant! I’m also obsessed with their white washed walls, floors and modern decor!
Best Advice for Key West Tourist: Wear SPF, drink plenty of water, wear a hat and your walking shoes! Oh and don’t even bother trying to look nice because trust me…it won’t last a second in that humidity. Just go to enjoy yourself and have a good time!
