The Perfect Undone Braid For Holiday Parties

My all time favorite hairstyle no matter the season is hands-down, a chunky, undone braid with lots of height and volume.  Unfortunately, I can’t always achieve that look on my own so I had professional Tresemme stylist, Jeanie Syfu work her magic to help me create the perfect, coveted undone braid for holiday parties. To make my braid look thicker, Jeanie braided four sections instead of three. Once, she finished the braid, she pulled the strands apart to make it apear fuller.

Hi everyone, this is my second holiday hairstyle look with Tresemme and possibly my favorite too.  I’ll let you decide though once we get to the last hairstyle post. See my first one here–> The Perfect Holiday Top Knot

Jeanie’s tips for a Big 4 strand braid: For a fuller braid, back brush hair before weaving strands. Finish with Perfectly Undone hairspray.

P.S. Tresmme hair products make great stocking stuffers! My favorites are the (un)Done Hairspray and the Wave Creation Sea Foam. The Blow Dry Balm is great too!

The Perfect Holiday Top Knot

Today, I’m sharing why it’s vital to perfect your top knot skills! We all know that feeling when we’re running  five 35 minutes behind for a holiday party and we have to think quick about what we can whip up with some dry shampoo and anything else we have in our hair product cabinet. You try running your curling iron through it, your straightener, 10 pounds of dry shampoo or you even try some bobby pins with a clip and you still hate it! This brings me back to the top knot! We all know it’s the one hairstyle you can always count on to work no matter how dirty your hair is. In fact, the dirtier, the better, right? So I had Tresemme hairstylist, Jeanie Syfu show me how to get this killer ‘Lady Top Knot’ in literally less than five minutes! Scroll down to the bottom for tips.

Jeanie’s tips for the perfect Lady top knot: Instead of a messy top knot, make it neat! Divide into 2 sections, work through a dime size amount of Keratin Smooth cream and begin to tie hair into a knot and pin at the base, keep tying and tuck ends under w pins.

We added some extra fullness to my top knot by adding a couple of hair extensions into the actual bun. Once Jeanie wrapped my hair into the top knot, she took small sections the of the hair on top of my head and pulled upward to create a little bit of volume and height. She also pulled out any loose baby hairs in front for a more ‘undone’ look.

Holiday Braided Updo Hairstyle

Look and feel your best at holiday parties this season with the perfect coat, dress, shoes, jewelry and this killer holiday braided updo hairstyle! I’m not going to lie, I’m no master of specialty hairstyles, but thankfully my friend, Courtney Graham is! With the help of some extra hair extensions and my Pro Beauty Tools 1 ¼” curling iron, Courtney was able to whip up this hairstyle in no time. Here is to recreate this hairstyle:

hair-how-to

First, she sectioned my hair off starting at the nape of my neck and then teased and curled each section with my Pro Beauty Tools curling iron (available at Target) working towards the top of my head. I LOVE this curling iron because it ensures optimum heat distribution for consistent performance curl after curl – so your last curl looks as good as your first! These first steps help to set the foundation and create lots of volume throughout the hair.

Next, she took a couple of my clip-in hair extensions and braided them together to create one thick braid. The best way to make the braid appear larger and fuller is by pulling apart the braid strand by strand.

Once the braid met her standards, she wrapped the braid around the top/middle of my head and secured the braid with bobby pins. She also made sure to conceal the bobby pins by layering my natural hair over them.

Lastly, she rolled my hair into a bun starting with the ends to the back of the head. Once she completely rolled it up to the back of the head, she bobby-pinned on the inside of the bun from each side of the bun to secure the bun will stay.

To finish off the updo, she took the curling iron to the leftover pieces to give the overall style a softer and more “undone” look. I recommend using the Pro Beauty Tools XL curling wand to get this look especially for girls with longer hair! It is 2 inches longer than traditional wands, so it is excellent for long hair like mine. On top of that, the gold plated barrel provides advance heat technology ideal for all hair types and don’t worry you don’t have to be a professional stylist to use these tools because Pro Beauty Tools provides proficient performance and quality that will have you styling like a pro in no time!
