The Best Waterproof Makeup

I’m sure most of you have heard the traditional phrase “Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue,” when it comes to weddings. However, I bet you didn’t know that the phrase is actually lacking something essential to your wedding day and that my friends, is something waterproof! Waterproof makeup is vital for weddings especially in the summer and even more so if you’re an emotional crier like myself.  You don’t own any waterproof makeup, you say? Fortunately, I’ve got just the right product for you and it goes beyond weddings. Plus it’s oil free, hypoallergenic and lightweight with maximum coverage. I’m talking about Ashley Sievert Beauty! I haven’t even told you the best part yet! Starting today, you’ll receive 30% OFF your entire ASB purchase. Scroll through this post to find out how!

I recently stood in my best friend’s wedding as her maid of honor this past month and the entire bridal party wore Ashley Sievert’s waterproof makeup. We actually had the pleasure of Ashley Sievert doing our makeup herself before the wedding.

I’ve been using Ashley Sievert Beauty’s Mineral Velvet Cream, Mineral Finishing Velvet Powder and Glow Under Eye Brightener for over three years now. I’m wearing her makeup in these photos and I actually wear her makeup for all of my photoshoots and events. As for her gorgeous golden makeup brushes made of Taklon synthetic fibers which are velvety soft, I added those into my beauty routine the second she launched them. See a full review on her makeup that I wrote here–> Get a Flawless Face With Ashley Sievert Makeup.

Hi everyone and Happy Monday! Today, I wanted to share a little makeup review with you since I get so many questions on how I keep my skin looking smooth and flawless. Please don’t misread that as me saying I have flawless skin because I do NOT. However, with the help of Ashley Sievert’s Mineral Velvet Creme, it allows my skin to appear that way!

Remember the first time Ashley did my makeup two summers ago? See post here–> Haute Off The Rack Gets A Makeover By Ashley Sievert  I know I’ve told you this before, but I was so amazed by the results that I bought everything she used on my face and even had her give me a makeup application lesson.  On top of that, I hosted a fun beauty event with her at a local boutique in Baton Rouge where she offered makeup application lessons and complimentary foundation touchups using her own line of face makeup.

I love how her Mineral Velvet Creme has a lightweight feel, but still gives you maximum coverage. Plus it’s oil free, hypoallergenic and waterproof. Yes, you read that right! It’s waterproof! Hello Summer, right? It literally lasts the whole day until you take a makeup remover wipe to your face! Also, Ashley’s concealer adapts to every skin type and color.  On top of the Velvet Creme, I also use her mineral pressed powder, Glow Under The Eye Brightener and her newly released Velvet Air Brush Set. Ashley’s brush set 100% lives up to it’s name. When used properly with the foundation and powder, her brushes gives you that coveted air brushed look.

I use Ashley Sievert Beauty products for all my photo shoots as well as date nights and special occasions for the extra coverage and also because it’s water proof so it literally lasts all day and all night long. It’s so nice to not have to worry about reapplying my foundation. During the daytime, I like to wear a tinted moisturizer or BB cream with loose mineral powder because I like to preserve my ASB makeup and save it for more special occaisions.

If you want to try her makeup out, but aren’t sure what shade you should purchase, you can always make a foundation matching appointment with her at her studio in Metairie (info@ashleysievert.com). If you don’t live in the New Orleans area, not to worry because you can try her tester pack! I have medium tan skin and I use the shade LA!

Ashley did makeup herself in all of the photos shown above. However, I did my own makeup for the two photos below after a makeup lesson with Ashley.HAUTE-OFF-THE-RACK-1_WEB

Hi everyone, in case you missed Day 1 and Day 2 of our FQ Stylecation, I will fill you in! I teamed up with Krystal of A Pinch of Lovely and Juley of Upperlyne & Co to give you five whole days of New Orleans fashion, food and fun just in time for Mardi Gras! We’ll tell you all of the best places to drink, dine and wine (oh and sleep) in New Orleans.

French Quarter Stylecation:  (noun) /stīl/ + \vā-ˈkā-shən, və-\ = a style guide on what to wear to all of the snazziest places to eat, drink, party and sleep in New Orleans!

On Day 3 of our French Quarter Stylecation, we lounged around all morning wearing our Niven Morgan bath robes in our beautiful blue and white room overlooking Canal Street at The Saint Hotel. Talk about a much needed luxurious and relaxing morning! After a few cups of coffee, some pillow fights and way too much fun dancing to “Uptown Funk,” Ashley Sievert stopped in to glam up our day.  She also surprised us with her newly released makeup brushes to show us their magic tricks! Ladies, I’m telling you… I don’t know how we’ve gone through life with without Ashley Sievert’s Velvet “Air” brush set! The brushes along with her velvet cream foundation, pressed mineral power and under the eye brightener give you maximum coverage and goddess-like glow. Your face will literally look “air” brushed once you’ve applied her signature makeup with her new brushes!

The best part of Day 3 for me was of course dinner at Beachbum Berry’s Latitude 29 because I’m a foodie, remember? Sometimes I wish I would have started a food blog instead of a fashion blog! Just kidding! But really though! Anyway, these exotic cocktails and Tiki Cuisine dishes were just as amazing and delectable as they look! My top two favorite plates were the Pork Ribs served with rice and mac salad and the Noodle Bowl prepared with cold rice noodles, grilled shiitake mushrooms, young coconut and basil. Latitude 29 is the perfect place to enjoy drinks and small dishes with a group of friends with out feeling stuffed before a night out in the Big Easy! Also, you’ll love the restaurant’s relaxed ambience and cool Island vibes.

After the party, it’s the after party at The Saint Hotel Burgundy Bar!  If you fancy live Jazz music and traditional New Orleans Style, then you will love The Burgundy Bar’s mix of bordello chic and modern decor with a hint of Louis Armstrong. Whether you’re just heading out for the night or slowly making your way back after a wild day in the Quarter, you should absolutely make a pit stop at the Burgundy Bar for one of their signature cocktails. Plus you can’t leave the Crescent City without seeing the most grandiose chandelier (not pictured) that you have ever feasted your eyes on!  Photos of the antique just doesn’t do it justice! You must go and see it for yourself.

Every time I’m in New Orleans, I always want to stop at Felipe’s on N Peters St. to chow down on some fish tacos or I like to run by District Donut on Magazine for some donut sliders. Right now they even have a special King Cake donut in honor of Carnival Season. Those are just two places, but don’t worry I have a whole list of all my favorite places to brunch, lunch, snack and dine in New Orleans!

First time in NOLA? Plan out your meals first! Can you tell I’m a foodie? It’s not just me, though—New Orleans is the place to dine! Once you finish your meal itinerary, pencil in a little shopping on Magazine Street and some leisure time to stroll through the St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square and the beautiful streets in the Garden District. I also love walking down Royal Street to admire all of the stunning old architecture, live street music and the brightly colored houses. If you want to try something really fun, schedule a cooking class at the New Orleans School of Cooking. You’ll be amazed at what you’ll learn! Plus, you get to enjoy wine and a little French Quarter history while you cook. They’ll even show you how to make homemade pralines! One more thing: Do me a favor and don’t leave the French Quarter without stopping for beignets at Café Du Monde or Café Beignet! I promise that they’re worth it!

Shopping: I love shopping at Haus 131, Elle boutique and Sincerely Luxe on Magazine St. as well as the Shops at Canal Place. I always like to stop at Emma’s Shoes and Candy Apple in Metairie on the way to the city as well.

This post was brought to you by the Glitter Guide. A huge thanks to my amazing team for making this post possible!
