Save this place for your next Girls’ Brunch on the Northshore!

@thegloriette in Downtown Covington will always be one of my go-to places when comes to aesthetic brunches with the girls! This restaurant is stunning down to every little detail making it the perfect backdrop for special occasions like baby showers, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners or in this case a fancy girl brunch.

Oh and best part— you can always keep the party going in the Cypress Bar or courtyard afterwards. And don’t forget to snap some cute pics underneath the gorgeous ivy arches!

When it comes to the menu, do yourself a favor and order my two favorite cocktails the “Sage Advice” & the “Spa Day.”
As for food, we ordered everything on the brunch menu to split family style and our faves were the cinnamon roll, the shrimp and grits and actually the salad was so refreshing and delicious!

RIP Frank Espejo Palpallatoc | February 15, 1962-July 19, 2025

Our Dad loved all of the fun and enjoyable things in life and we know the best way to honor him is to encourage you to do the same. In lieu of a service, we want to dedicate this week to doing all of the things he loved to do and we want you to join us by picking any of the things on this list. I’ll be sure to share the list frequently over the next week and feel free to share it with anyone you want because it’s just about living your best life while you’re here on earth! Bonus! Something I forgot to add to this list is that he was a really talented artist and loved to paint and draw so feel free to get creative!

Lastly, we will be hosting a small family celebration of life for him in California where he grew up, but we loved the idea of everyone getting to participate in celebrating his life by doing things that made him happy. I know he’s smiling down from heaven watching everyone enjoy some of the best things in life in for him!

Yesterday we said goodbye to the most wonderful Dad and coach and all I have in my heart to give is gratitude. We were so lucky to get 7 whole extra months with him following the stroke with about 4 of those months spent here in our home where he could always hear the sound of family and little feet running around the house.

I thank God for all the little miracles he has shown us over the past year and for bringing my dad home to me when he could no longer care for himself. I thank God for allowing me to show my children how to feel happy and sad at the same time and how to find light even in the darkest of times. And most of all I’m grateful for a dad who had so much to offer the world. He’s reason I’m always able to see the good in every moment no matter how challenging. Even though he couldn’t walk or speak over these past few months, he still laughed and smiled until the very last day.

Thank you all for your continued prayers and support on this journey as my sister and I didn’t do this alone. We had a whole community of people helping us through.

It was truly an honor to lift him up here in our home during his final days of life. The sun was shining on his face peacefully when God called him home, but we know he is still here with us in spirit.

We told the boys that he’s already up in heaven jumping, running, dancing, laughing and leading a game of volleyball!

Honestly though I’m okay with that because this has been some of my most favorite content to share. I’ve lived here for nearly 30 years and I love getting to share my hometown with everyone. 3 Things You Need to Know Before Finding the Perfect Rug for Your Home:

1) Measurements!
Measure the dimensions of the room as well as the furniture. I don’t have dining room furniture yet so we brought chairs into the room to get a better visual of the furniture layout over the rug.

2) Design Inspo!
Gather & save some inspiration for your overall room design. You don’t need to know exactly what you want. Just have an idea of the of vibe you’re going for and how you want the room to feel.

3) Know your budget!
The rug is the foundation for your furniture and sets the tone for the room so think of it as an investment.

4) Shop wisely!
There are so many places you can shop for rugs, but I chose @parvizanfinerugsnola because they specialize in rugs and offer a variety of different sizes, styles and prices to accommodate all of my needs. If you watch this video, you’ll see that owner will come to your house and measure the room himself and then help you hand select rugs from his store. Then he delivers your top 3 rugs to your house and his team moves your furniture and lays out all 3 rugs so you can choose the best one for your home! This was truly top notch service and made me feel very confident in my rug decisions for both the living room and the dining room.

We went with an authentic hand tied Turkish Oushak rug & they also offer microseal treatments to protect the life of the rug.

Last, but not least, hire a professional! I’m so fortunate that my BFF since the first grade has an eye for design and we’ve always shared a love for decor together. It’s funny thinking back to all of the room she’s helped me together over the years. And fortunately for you all, she co-founded @eleve.designcollective with 2 partners so you can hire them to help you with all of your designs needs! I’m the worst type of client because I like to be super hands on and be a part of all the decision making, but thankfully they offer design consulting appointments too so they accompanied me on my rug shopping trip to help me select the best rugs for each space! Most times I know exactly what I like and they’re able to steer me the right direction when it comes to size and scale.
