The Perfect Summer Babydoll Dress

Happy Friday Eve Friends! I’m so excited to launch this adorable Jennifer Babydoll Dress that I designed with Gibsonlook. It’s officially available for pre-order in white paisley and navy gingham.  To celebrate, we’re offering 15% OFF your entire purchase with code: HAUTE15. If you remember how quickly the Jennifer Shirt Dress & Smocked Puff Sleeve Dress sold out  then you know that you better order quickly because your size might sell out before you get to it especially with 4th of July weekend coming up. Speaking of the Fourth, the upcoming holiday is actually the inspiration behind the dress design. I wanted a cute navy gingham print mini dress that I could wear off the shoulder to a 4th of July party and other summer events so I partnered with Gibsonlook to create the perfect babydoll dress.

The Jennifer Babydoll Dress is fun, flirty and so chic with a smocked bust and statement puff sleeves. I designed it so that the puff sleeves can be worn on or off the shoulder and both ways look so flattering on the arms and neckline. I know this will be a go-to dress for parties, summer trips, date nights, wedding festivities and so much more. It’s especially perfect for the 4th of July weekend coming up next month.

I absolutely love the smocked midi dress that I designed and launched in April with Gibsonlook, but thought it would be a nice change to go for a mini dress length for the hottest months of the year. I made sure to choose a breathable fabric for summer that is also wrinkle resistant too so you can just roll it up in your bag and put it on the second you unpack it. When it comes to styling the dress, wear it with sandals and a hat for daytime or throw on some heels and statement earrings to dress it up. You can also pair it with sneakers for an easy casual look. My favorite way to style it is to play up the boho-chic vibes by pairing it with a wide brim hat, layered necklaces and hoop earrings.  Oh and the white is perfect for brides too!

You may recognize this dress from Beck’s first birthday party. I wore the first sample of the Jennifer Babydoll Dress for his BBQ themed birthday party and I got such great feedback from you all so I’m super excited to finally launch this dress today.

Design details:

I designed it with a cinched bust for a flattering neckline and plenty of stretch so you don’t have to deal with zippers or sucking in. I also made sure to choose a super lightweight fabric in a mini dress length to give you legs for day for summer. My favorite part is the option to wear the puff sleeves on or off the shoulder and the adjustable tie on the cinched bust.

Sizing:

Be sure to size down because Gibsonlook runs large. I am wearing the size XXS and it’s still comfortable a spacious enough to move around in. It’s also super bump friendly because their is plenty of room though the body of the dress. ***Full disclosure about the length: I’m hemmed mine 1.5 inches. Totally not necessary, but I’m only 5 ft and I like my mini dresses extra short.***

The white color is fully lined though the body so you don’t have to worry about it being see through. However, you do need to wear a nude bra or nipple covers with the white dress because the bust isn’t lined.

MY SIZING AND HEIGHT FOR REFERENCE:

Most people don’t realize how petite I am so and I understand that knowing my sizes can help you determine what size to get.
I am 5 ft and I wear a size 27 in high waisted jeans & smalls in leggings. I’m currently a 34B and take size XS/S in dresses and tops, smalls in sports bras, and XS-S in outerwear. I typically size down in Gibsonlook pieces. I’m wearing a size XXS in the Jennifer Babydoll Dress.

Wedding Wednesday: Top 5 Destination Wedding Planning Tips

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! We’re officially almost a month away from our Cabo wedding so I thought I would share my top 5 destination wedding planning tips to get you excited. There are so many factors that go into planning the perfect destination wedding overseas. I’ve learned so much throughout my planning experience especially during our recent visit and menu tasting at The Cape Hotel. I still have a month left so I thought I would tell you what I’ve learned so far and please let me know if you have any additional questions that I didn’t cover.

1. Choose a meaningful place!

Yea, it’s super cool to get married in a far away, magical place, but choose a place that actually means something to you not just because it sounds cool. Blake and I went to Cabo together a few years ago and we had such an amazing time that we wanted to bring our friends back because we knew it was a place they would enjoy too. We just fell in love with the stunning views and liveliness of the beach town.  When it comes to hotel accommodations, be sure to choose an area that can accommodate all of your guests and their needs. For example, if the resort you choose is out of the budget for some of your guests, make sure that there is a more budget-friendly hotel close enough to the main resort to accommodate them too.

2. Secure your venue

First, make a venue check list and then choose a few dates that work for you, your fiancé and your family. Then submit those dates to all of the venues you’re interested in to compare all of their rates, availability and resources. When I was researching venues and resorts, these are three main qualities I wanted my venue to possess:

  1. The venue/resort needed to have an absolutely spectacular view from both the guest rooms as well as the spot where the ceremony would take place. I really wanted our guests to get the full experience and I think a breath-taking view plays a huge role in one’s overall experience. I researched views for weeks before finally deciding on The Cape Hotel in Cabo, which by the way has the most fantastic view from every room. All rooms have oceanfront views!
  2. While views are super important, they can also be super expensive too. So I needed a moderately priced venue that would work within my budget.
  3. Last but not least, I wanted the resort to feel fun and lively while still exclusive. I want my guests to feel to like they’re always having fun, but I also want them to have their space and privacy as well as top notch service. I feel like The Cape offers all of those qualities without sacrificing any of the good stuff! On top of all that, their food is sensational! Our menu tasting was out of this world delicious!

3. Hire a planner & book your photographer!

Let’s be real here…no matter how travel savvy and creative you think you are, destination weddings are a whole new ball game and I highly recommend you leave it to the pros. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later! We chose Amy Abbott Events because her team had phenomenal reviews and was willing to work within my budget.

As for destination photographers, I feel like they book up their schedules pretty quickly during peek season so once you decide you who you want to go with, consult your wedding date with them immediately. I’m bringing my own photographer from home (Lainey Reed Photography) and I also hired local Cabo photographers, Ana & Jerome who shot the photos for this post.

4. Inform Your Guests

Give your guests at least eight months notice so they can start planning and preparing. Also, provide with them all of the travel details from passports and flight suggestions all the way to transportation to and from the airport and the resort and festivity locations. I also provided my guests with a packing list. I did this through our wedding website, which you can create on Minted.com. See more information on save the dates here—> Custom Save The Date Cards

5. Overestimate Your Budget

Trust me when I say that things will definitely “come up!” Things that never even crossed your mind, but are non-negoaiteable. Just be prepared because when you aren’t able to physically be there for all of the details, you have less control over everything, which ends up costing you more.

Good Morning readers and Happy Friday! Who’s ready for the weekend to begin? I know I am! During these next few weekends I’ll be soaking up the last few days of summer in sundresses and floppy hats. Like I told you in my last post, it’s so hot this time of year that all I want to wear are easy lightweight dresses and rompers. Also, I’m usually not one to pair sneakers with a sundress, but how cute are these striped Keds for Kate Spade New York! They’re the perfect kind of transitional shoe to wear in that awkward in between time of summer and fall.  I’m sure you all know what I’m referring too. It’s when you start wondering if it’s still acceptable to wear shorts and flip-flops outside when all you see in stores around you are sweaters and boots, but it’s still like 80 degrees. It’s the worst, right?!
