My Recent Stay At The Pointe

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing a travel review of my recent stay at The Pointe located on 30A. In case you aren’t familiar with 30A, it’s a beautiful highway of beaches that stretches from San Destin all the way to Panama City, FL. This highway is sacred because it is home to some of the most breathtaking beaches you will ever see in Florida! I’m talking crystal clear, blue water, soft white sand, dreamy boardwalks and private communities. All of the neighborhoods have their own little towns with boutiques, resorts, restaurants and activities for the whole family like bike riding, boating, sailing and jet skis just to name a few.

I’ve stayed in San Destin a number of times, but this was my first time ever staying in Inlet Beach, which is within walking distance to both Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach…oh and Donut Hole! Haha! In fact, we actually stayed right across the street from Donut Hole in the luxury condos at The Pointe Resort. Our resort was amazing because it’s brand new and the condos are gi-normous! We stayed in the a three-bedroom condo complete with a full kitchen, living room, dining room and two fabulous balconies that overlooked the pool. Oh and I can’t forget mention that luxurious bathrooms and walk-in closets. My bathtub was huge and I could even see the TV from it! Talk about relaxing!

As I mentioned, The Pointe is fairly new to Inlet beach so they are still slowly rolling some of their new amenities like their full-service restaurant that will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I think that guests will really enjoy the on site restaurant especially if they don’t plan on cooking because the local dining spots fill up fast. However, if you’re traveling with a large group, the kitchen has everything you need for preparing meals as well as a barbecue grill on the back deck of the pool. The resort also features a rooftop lounge and bar that overlooks the 30A skyline and soon enough they will be soon be a poolside drink service as well.

Last but not least, The Pointe will have a full coffee service bar available all hours of the day!

6 Things You Need to Throw the Perfect Mardi Gras Party

Hi everyone, I’m so excited that we are less than a week away from Fat Tuesday (aka Mardi Gras Day)! With that being said, today I’ve partnered up with Barq’s Root Beer to share 6 things you need to throw the perfect Mardi Gras Party to help you host a great day for you and your friends. Also, you don’t have to live in Louisiana to join in on the fun! With these tips, you can celebrate by creating your own version of Mardi Gras no matter where you live! Just be sure to invite the bite to your Mardi Gras celebrations with Barq’s Root Beer for an authentic touch of Carnival season. After all, Barq’s has been bringing the bite to Mardi Gras for more than 100 years.

6 Things You Need to Throw the Perfect Mardi Gras Party:

  1. Bring on the booze! Show your guests how to party New Orleans style with champagne and mixers complete with a mimosa and Bloody Mary bar.

2.  King Cake! I wouldn’t even consider the event a “Mardi Gras” party without King Cake! Some of my favorite local King Cake bakeries include: Haydel’s and Randazzo’s. If you don’t live around, not to worry because they also ship!

3. Purple, Green & Gold Decor! These colors are essential to your Carnival Celebration! I also like to set out a bunch of fun masks and beads for my guests to wear.

4. Refreshing drinks for the whole family to enjoy! I know I said that booze is a key factor to the party, but you also have to offer something that can quench everyone’s thirst. I love giving my guests classic Barq’s Root Beer because of its bold flavor and unique connection to the Gulf Coast. Barq’s is an authentic part of Mardi Gras considering how long it has been around. Plus both celebrate the boldness of the region – Barq’s with its unique “flavor” and Mardi Gras with its vibrant festivities.

5. A delicious spread of Louisiana style food & snacks! Let’s be real here, most people stop by Mardi Gras parties for the delicious food and drinks, which is why flavorful New Orleans food is key to a successful party. Some of these dishes include: jambalaya, fried chicken, gumbo, crawfish, shrimp and grits and red beans and rice. For snacks and finger foods, I suggest plenty of dips, chips, finger sandwiches and decorative cookies.

6. The great outdoors! Nothing beats having a nice outdoor entertaining area for your guests to enjoy the beautiful weather this time of year. If you only have a balcony, that’s even better since it goes with the New Orleans style vibe. Just make sure to add additional seating and tables for your guests. You can even decorate with cute tassels and banners from Fox Fete and Mardi Gras themed cups like these from White Elephant Designs.

White Jeans + A Camo Hat

Hi everyone, let me just start off by saying that white jeans and a camo hat is one combo that I never even imagined myself wearing, but I think that’s exactly why I love it. Sometimes it’s fun to experiment with different pieces in your closet and dress up in outfits that you wouldn’t normally put together. Mixing things up in your wardrobe allows you to better explore your style plus it might bring out a side of you that you never even knew existed.

Also, while we’re on the topic of taking wardrobe risks, I always hear people say the phrase, “I would love to wear that, but I could never pull it off!” I always respond with, “Says who?” For real though, who is telling you that? I bet that you’re only one telling yourself that and my advice to you is…get over yourself! Who cares! Wear what you want to wear and own it and that’s exactly how you pull something off!

At first, I was so nervous to pair these white jeans with sneakers and a camo hat that I would normally wear to the gym. I thought that maybe it was too edgy for me, but then I realized that I was the only one telling myself that I wasn’t cool enough to pull it off! So I put the look together, made it my own and guess what? I loved how I felt it in! All I had to do was put it on with confidence and that’s all you have to do too!

What is an outfit that you’ve been wanting to try, but haven’t had the guts to give it go? I dare to you to do it and let me know how it turns out! Just remember that no one ever made fashion history by following the rules!

Charleston Trip Review

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing my Charleston trip review from my recent girl’s getaway! Scroll through this post for my top recommendations on dining, hotels, sight seeing and where to “wine” down!

Where We Stayed:

We stayed at the most adorable boutique hotel in Charleston, the Zero George Hotel. We lodged in the main house on the third floor so every morning we would just walk right downstairs for complimentary breakfast and coffee. Speaking of coffee, Zero George offers free coffee, lattes, espresso and cappuccinos 24 hours a day! If that isn’t amazing enough, they also offer daily bike rentals and host a complimentary wine and cheese hour for their guests every afternoon. The servers personally deliver wine and cheeseboards to your room or balcony for you to enjoy.

As for the Zero George restaurant, we didn’t get to experience their dining menu, but we only heard wonderful things about it from both locals and tourists. Also, they close their restaurant every Monday night to host a cooking class that you can book here—> Charleston Cooking classes

In case you missed my Instagram posts, this past Charleston trip was one for the girls, but I would love to come back here for a romantic weekend with Blake! It is among the most darling towns I’ve ever visited!

Poogan’s Porch Famous Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe:

Ingredients: 1 cup sifted self-rising flour | 1 tsp. baking power |1 Tbsp. sugar | 1/4 cup shortening | 4 oz. buttermilk (room temp)

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, and sugar thoroughly— cut in shortening until mix forms course crumbs.
  2. Add 3 oz. buttermilk and mix. Add additional buttermilk until desired consistency is met.
  3. Place dough mixture on a floured surface for kneading and pat dough to 1/2 inch thickness and use biscuit cutter.
  4. Place biscuits on lightly greased baking sheet and bake 350 degrees for 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  5. Brush biscuits with melted butter!
